I was taking acidophilus for 4 year's but decided to give Alfloex a go. Can anyone let me know their experience of it please, as I don't want to give up. I have ibs d.

I did have some bloating and discomfort for the first week / 10 days. It was much better after that. It’s definitely worth following up with them though!

Thank you for your reply. It's good to know that the bloating did get better. I have emailed the helpline and they have been great. I am going to continue with them and hope for the best.

I have been taking it for 2 months now. Took a while to feel any benefits but seems to be helping now

I couldn't take it made me terribly depressed also look at the fillers! That put me off as some of them is what is used in soap powder

I was lucky in that I didn't have any side effects and I started to see benefits in just over a week. However, they say it can take 4-8 weeks to work and some people may experience difficulties early on, but these should settle. Precision Biotics, the manufacturer can provide you with support. Their email address is ask@precisionbiotics.com. It is definitely worth the full 2 month test.

Thanks for all your replies xx

Hi Claire, smiled when I read this, not because I enjoy others discomfort but in recognition. I posted about it then mid May, when I started my free trial. I nearly didn’t continue after three days, but glad I did, I figured that the response showed something positive must be happening, it took longer than expected for things to get settled. I decided to buy some at end to continue. It’s very hard with the pandemic having affected life so much to know for sure but generally I think I am better ( or could be worse with out).

I got some reassurance on here too which helped me. Hope that helps you keep going, suggest keeping a dairy if you don’t already. Helpful to look back at. Best wishes

Hi and thank you for your reply, it has reassured me that I am doing the right thing. Glad it's worked for you and I am hoping for the same. The acidophilus was ok but I think I got used to it after 4 year's and my body needed something different. I will keep you all informed xx

I didn't get on with Alfloex; despite trialling it for 2 months it didn't make a huge or even small difference to gut pain, bloating etc. However, I tried Synbiotic Active Vitality from BodyFokus ( bodyfokus.co.uk/product/syn... and that made a big difference to symptoms (I'm on my third month of it now) and have a lot more consistent energy, maybe worth a try?

Just wondering if you continued with these? I've started the trial I got through IBS network and like you am suffering cramps, loose stools, urgency and generally feeling rubbish. I'm only on day 5 or 6 so early days. Bit frustrating as I wasn't feeling bad before starting them.

Hi RickyW no I had to stop it made me so ill and I got progressively worse. I stopped taking it and went back on the Entersol gel and within 24 hours I had firmer poop and am feeling lots better. I know Alflorex is great if it works but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I can honestly say I have never felt so poorly with my IBSD.l. The Alfloex team are excellent and really helpful, but I could not continue as I was crying in pain and not sleeping due to the cramps and even getting up in the night to go to the loo, something I have never done before. I thought it was working at one point as I felt ok, but on day 8 I was so poorly. Sorry for the long reply and I wish you luck. Maybe if I stuck with it would have worked, but the pain, runs and general fatigue made me give in. Claire xx

Thanks for replying. I will try give it another few days but if the cramps and dodgy tummy continue it isn't worth it for me.
