Bad weekend

So it’s been a bit of a crap weekend here - no pun intended. I went out with friends on Friday night and had an attack before I went - 3/4 loose and urgent BM.

Saturday morning I had to go out so I took two Imodium as a precaution in case I needed the toilet. All was fine.

Today I’ve been doubled up on the loo with cramping, very loose BM and gas. I’ve had about 5 or 6 very watery movements. The worst bit was I had to go to the in laws for lunch and was really unwell there. Am paranoid that they noticed me running off to the loo every five minutes.

I don’t know why I got problems today after taking 2 Imodium yesterday - usually that stops me going for a few days. I don’t know if it was a bit of a bug or anxiety/panic because both attack’s happened when I was out or due to go out and the fear of that tends to make my symptoms worse.

I need to go back to the gp because I’m starting to worry that there could be bigger things wrong. I lost a relative to bowel cancer last year and am constantly paranoid about that now. I’m only 35 but it’s not unheard of. Sorry for the long rant I just needed to have a moan.

Have a colonoscopy to rule out any nasties. You describe typical IBS though with anxiety related X good luck

Hi Annie. I do think its a good idea to push for a colonoscopy, they should do it before diagnosing ibs as it can find lots of other things not just bowel cancer, unfortunately it took me many visits to the gp over 18 months to get him to agree and then my colonoscopy was completely clear (which is good of course, but leads me no further forward!)
