Living with a megacolon

Hi folks. I have a megacolon and am currently managing my condition with bisacodyl (20 mg twice per day) and lactulose. I was in hospital recently with severe bloating and the surgeons were all set to operate on me (ileostomy) but I picked up a bit and regained some bowel movement so my consultant is happy for me to try and manage my condition with medication. IS anyone else in s similar situation? If so it would be great to hear from you.
