Constipation & vomiting

Hi I’m new here. I have been having bouts of what I think is IBS for years. Nothing as bad as what I’ve been reading until now. I had my gallbladder out 6 months ago & before went for a toilet everyday like clockwork but since has been every 2 days or so. I have also had some real got to get to a toilet pain moments. Just recently it’s gone the other way. Constipation with stomach pain & bloating. I take Movicol & that then gives me relief in the form of Diarrhoea but takes a whole day. Last 2 times I have also been vomiting. Again giving relief. It’s causing issues with work & social life & really can’t go on like this. Doctors seem not to know what’s up & just send me for a scan in a months time. I’m getting married & have honeymoon in June & worry this will ruin everything. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Symptoms are so similar for a lot of conditions, getting the right tests and diagnosis is essential.

I was diagnosed by a GI Consultant with ibs 24 years ago so im happy i know whats wrong but i was left on my own to deal with it at 18 with nothing but a prescription for mebeverine.

I seen a good friend diagnosed with IBS by her GP, long story short, after 3 months of pain discomfort and problems, repeated visits to the GP, she was found not to have IBS by her local A&E department (where she went after the pain got unbearable one weekend). If its not right keep going back until its sorted. Its your health you really need to be assertive and let them know you wont be fobbed off and you will keep coming back till its sorted.
