I have a loop ileostomy, and this last week I’ve been rushed in to hospital, they couldn’t find out what was wrong but I’m suspecting a twist in small intestine, I haven’t been able to eat for 3 weeks. Feel absolutely dreadful. Has anyone had this, what were your symptoms and how was it diagnosed and treated? PLEASE SOMEONE REPLY 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I wish I had an answer. Sometimes ER doesn't give you much help. Been there more times than I can count for impaction. All they did was give me an enema..and refer me to gastro. Do you have a gastro or colon and rectal specialist you can make appt with? They might be better to help than us on here. How are you feeling now? x

Lousy awful, still can’t eat, weight is falling off me and I’m in agony and so very sick. My colorectal guy thinks it’s a gastro problem so he’s referring me to his gastro consultant! Supposedly as urgent but that’s going to be between 6-8 weeks! 😩

The pressure on my bladder is getting worse fast

Can you tell me more about the loop iliostomy. How did you find out about this and the twisted intestine? Was it shown to you via a upper and lower barium follow through? A Colonoscopy? A cat scan? MRI? Any other tests? Did you actually or did they point out where that intestine is twisted? Or did some gastro assume you had a twisted intestine? I think what they need to do is to actually admit you to a hospital center for digestive diseases. (I have been admited there, it's not as bad as it sounds). But I had lost so much weight they put me in there, as I refused to go to an eating disorder/mental health clinic. (The Linden center). They wanted to get me stabilized and it was not something that could be done by one or two visits to a gastro. It was actually in a colorectal and intestinal failure dept at a hospital. I was there for two weeks where they ran several diagnostic tests, had me on a special diet so I could be stabilized. If I was not stabilized then they were going to put me on a feeding tube, until they find out exactly what was wrong, which ended up with an extra loop in my intestine. I think if you are in this much pain and agony which I was in, try to see if a second opinion by Colon and Rectal Specialist (not a gastro) can get you admitted and stabilized to get you back to eating and a healthy weight. Please keep us posted, but don't give up..I just think you need more intensive care then just making an appt with an short office visit to a gastro. I am shocked that they have not admitted you. I don't know what is wrong with our medical care. It has gotten so bad. I hope you get it all sorted out, but you have to eat and only an admission to a special care hospital or clinic can help. Keep us posted. x

I didn’t find out if I had a twist. Last time I had one it was in my colon, showed on X-ray, but this time it feels so different, I’ve had barium swallow which showed my nissen fundoplication is not there anymore!!!! So poss stitches snapped or it’s slid Down!

I had a ct on my last admission which showed there is fluid in my colon and fluid ON My stomach! Not in it!!!! But the actual consultant I was under denied it and sent me home in absolute agony and so very sick! He was so very rude and arrogant. I’ve complained about him. I’m at my wits end so very poorly! 😩💦

Amidst all this I had a post menopause bleed and was fast tracked to gynaecologist who did ultrasound and said it was normal so wouldn’t do the hysteroscopy but there’s ‘something ‘ there so doing a biopsy on Tuesday morning.

I’ve an apt with gastro end of month as still can’t eat hardly anything or drink much, it’s just the waiting and being in so much pain only solids I’m having are painkillers and anti sickness pills! X
