Hi I have had IBS for as long as I can remember. The only time I was well was when I was pregnant. I also have Fibromyalgia and have just been diagnosed with diverticulitis after a massive flare up. I just can’t get back to eating normally and keep having time off work. I went on an elimination diet for two weeks and am discovering what upsets my system. I also have flares in my eczema. I am so tired and weak now, I just don’t seem able to recover this time. I have been gluten and lactose free, but found out during the elimination diet that I am allergic to soya. I have just had a CT scan to confirm diverticulitis. I am bloated after the slightest meal, have cramps, spend hours on the loo and don’t want to eat anymore.

Fed up!! Need help.
I really feel for you. I was diagnosed with IBS C for years. Then I had bleeding so they said UC. However the consultant kept saying I didn’t show typical symptoms. He sent me to a dietitian who started me on the low FODMAP diet. I’ve only done it religiously for a week and the results are amazing. Flat tummy, no rumbling and I go. I also was so exhausted with it sleeping for 10 hours a night and waking up wanting to do it all again. I went gluten free and lactose free but it did nothing. Look it up. It might help you and don’t wait 20 years like me.
Hi thanks I have been diagnosed with IBS over twenty years now and now diverticulitis. I have never been so low. I sort of felt better on the elimination diet but it made me so weak as not eating enough. I have tried a fodmap diet too, no luck. My whole body seems to overreact to so much stuff, I can’t calm it down. We eat a fairly healthy diet with meat from butchers and fresh veg. I don’t eat cakes much and not much bread either now. Thank you for your reply.
Hi there so sorry you are so sick. I was finally diagnosed with a condition called Dysbiosis, symtons like you, I am off all carbs , I take 2 garlic tablets every. Morning and probiotics every night, really strong ones. At first I was put on an antibiotic called vancomycin to kill all the bad bacteria in my gut and bowel then massive doses of probiotics, then I had a faeces transplant and finally I am well. But try the no carbs and tablets first to see if it helps.😀😀
I had IBS for over 25 years. I know that place so well, so I feel for you.
I agree with Denvajade. If you haven't looked into dysbiosis (Sibo and Candida) then do ask your doctor to test you. I had this going on in the background for years. More details on the symptoms of each here: sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...
As a boost, you may find Reiki energy a good solution. It certainly helped pick me up when nothing else could.

Thank you Alison, I don’t think my GP will do those tests, but am trying via diet and probiotics to help heal my system. I appreciate the support thanks Jackie
Hi,
My own story and symptoms are very similar to yours and what I have found is that taking a good quality and high strength (as in high numbers) probiotic has helped immensely.
The probiotics need to be the ones that are refrigerated in the shop (as opposed to off the shelf then refrigerated) and although quite expensive I have found them worth paying for. I had a colonoscopy which diagnosed diverticulae but nothing else. The Picolax prep left my gut wiped of it's normal gut flora which we need to help our digestion and protect from "bad" bacteria and fungi (eg Candida or Thrush). So I took a very high potency probiotic which cost over £45 for the months supply and I have now moved on to a less potent, less expensive probiotic. You do need to take these every day over a period of time to see the benefits. They do not work instantly but are worth persevering with.
Hope this helps?
So sorry you are feeling so ill and down. I have gone Gluten free and take high strength probiotics and went several months feeling quite well then had a bad flare up which lasted about a month, settled again now. I think we just have to keep trying different things to get some relief, at first I thought I would find a permanent answer but I'm not sure that happens and it definitely seems to be different things for different people. I hope you find something that works for you soon.
