Diarrhea and undigested food

Kinda a gross one but I've had diarrhea for the last 5 days or so, definitely not a stomach bug, and food has been going through me and coming out the other end in sort of 12 hours ish, most of it undigested. I was told I have IBS after surgery for endometriosis came back negative, and was told to cut down on most foods (gluten, dairy, caffiene, the obvious), but have no idea what could have triggered this, other than my period but it's never been this bad before.

I'm losing a lot of weight and getting ill a lot from it, but it's just getting ridiculous having to go to the toilet every hour and having diarrhea and cramps. I really don't want to have to go back to the doctors about it but Buscopan doesn't seem to be touching anything, any ideas?

Hello, food coming through in 12 hours is pretty rapid throughput. Other people have reported on this forum that their IBS is worse when they have a period. I wonder if it is general inflammation as bowels and uterus are close together?

I sometimes get rapid transit, but it is usually certain vegetables that do this. For me it is beetroot, carrots and spinach and sometimes tomatoes if I overdose on them, but it doesn't always happen. If I need to, I do take a Loperamide capsule, which usually slows things down a bit.

If you are worried, get it looked at by your GP in the first instance.

Thank you! My womb is tilted backwards and leans onto my bowel at times, and they still suspect endometriosis so I think that it's because of that! Seems to have settled down today touch wood, so hoping thats what it was x

Is there anyway you can get tested for "Dumping Syndrome?"

I can try and go to the doctors but I know for a fact they will just tell me it's my IBS and tell me they won't do anything til I've had a baby like they tell me every time! Will look into it though, thank you! x

I know that vegetables with skin on them are I think called Insoluble Fibers meaning, although they are high in Fiber, they do not get digested..this also goes for cabbage, tomatoes, broccoli, and other certain vegetables..they are hard on your digestive system which may be why the rapid transit..I hope you get it all sorted out. x

The hospital prescribed me Amitriiptyline which I take along with Buscopan which usually works for me, although more recently I've had to take pain killers too, codeine & paracetamol or the aspirin & paracetamol. Normally I just take the Amitriptyline, initially it was 10mg but my GP increased it to 25mg for other reasons, sleep problems and depression. It may be worth tryong some short meditation also.
