Bouncing back from operation number 18...

I have just had my 18th operation for my Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed in 1987 and had many ops in the first year, but things settled down after that and it had been over nine years between my previous large op in 2009 and this one. I have just had another 30cm of gut removed and now I am starting the process of rebuilding my gut flora. Having done this many times, I thought I might share one of the key resources that helps me immensely. It is "The Illustrated Food Remedies Source Book" by C Norman Shealy. Wonderful descriptions of the vitamin, mental, etc, content for almost every food help me to construct delicious and varied meals. I supplement this with VSL#3 probiotics and multivitamins. Three weeks on from the op and the 6 inch wound is almost healed and I am averaging 6500 steps per day. If there are others out there worrying about abdominal operations, just believe that you can do it. Once your surgeon has fixed and stitched, it is up to you and with determination, you can bounce back faster than you think. ๐Ÿ˜Š
