Struggling with IBS

Since December 2017 I have struggled with bad stomach pains, so bad the doctors all thought it was my appendix and I had to have it removed! (It wasn’t my appendix). I have spent over 10 nights in hospital since December with the pain and finally got answers in May, IBS Last night I went to bed at 10pm and woke back up at 1AM with awful wind and stomach pains (flare up). I had no medication in the house so had to go up to the hospital to be treated as it was unbearable! Still now at 5:30 AM I am struggling to get over this flare up and have work in a hour! Can someone help me with tips on how to deal with flare ups and mainly the bad wind!

I went to the doctors yesterday with same problem and bad diarrhoea, he gave me co codamol i took 2 last night and I slept so well and so far no pain no wind and no diarrhoea! Let’s hope it’s working but early days yet x

Sorry to hear of your pain. How did the hospital arrive at the diagnosis of IBS did you have a scan or colonoscopy? Do you have diarrhoea or constipation?

Constipation and all my symptoms lead the doctors to believeing it was ibs as I had all different tests done for more serious health conditions and nothing was found.

Ok, so if you are satisfied with the tests you have had and you are going to your GP tomorrow I wish you well and do ask as many questions as poss. this is your chance to get satisfaction and a poss. way forward.

Ask your GP about the FODMAP diet.Also did your GP test you for SIBO? You shld ask him that as well. Has he suggested any probiotic to you?
