Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I'm a 15 year old female who has recently been diagnosed with IBS. After a year of all my symptoms (fatigue, joint pain, weird gurgling sound in stomach, nausea, stomach aches, stomach cramping, stabbing pain in stomach, feeling 'fluey', blood and mucous in stools and extreme bloating.)
I went to the doctors the other day and she said that my bloating is more than they would expect with IBS, so that was annoying.
A month ago I was put on the FODMAPS diet and it has done absolutely nothing for me! I am still getting all my symptoms and I still look 7 months pregnant.
I am finishing it extremely frustrating trying to deal with this illness as the drs at the hospital don't really know what to do. I was out on nexium, degas, buscopan and a pro-biotic, after a month of taking all this stuff I have up because it wasn't helping at all.
If any of you have any ideas as to what I should do or anything, please let me know!
Thank you!
Maddy. X

I deal a lot in my clinic with IBS and get good results.
Very good charity called IBS network. They have a junior network . Try a diet low in yeast and refined sugar. At the same time take a good quality probiotic should have B infants strain and contain 20 billion live bacteria . Sporegone , digestive aid and glutamine.
Hi Maddie, I sure wish the FODMAP diet had helped you. I found that that was a big help to me after 45 years of dealing with IBS. Please find a good nutritionist who is
experienced with IBS and see what else might help. You are too young to be having all these problems. Mine started when I was around 20. It makes life so difficult.
Let me know how you are doing. Hang in there! Life can be tough.
Thank you for all of your advice, I don't know if I've been tested for those things; I'll make sure I go to the doctors and ask to be tested for those things. X
Hi there, please keep to FODMAP and why not try and exclude all fruit and veg for a week and see if your symptoms reduce. I'm coeliac with IBS and can't tolerate fruit or veg except for carrots and fine green beans (boiled to death!!). I hope you are following the Monash University FODMAP diet (available on the internet for around £10)
Just a thought. But anything to help. Been there. Actually there today, as I had coffee with milk yesterday....silly me should only have black tea.!!
As Maddy is only 15 I would be careful about recommending anything (even if its free!) without the consent of her parents as I'm sure her parents would want to be involved.
Hi, that sounds terrible and your so young you poor thing! Go back to your doctors and say c.b.t to someone decent, it's better than any medicine apparently! Also if you can get it try Aloe Vera juice before you eat with a bit of fruit juice in to make it more palatable, also try yoga or swimming or something sporty, get out every day and most importantly SPEAK to people otherwise you'll feel terribly cut off, i.b.s can be a lonely illness! Good luck
I have the exact same feeling. New to all this too. I'm a primary teacher and three teachers have just left on maternity leave. . I feel my tummy is en par with theirs'
HATE it so much, very depressing and I've tried so so much too. I'll read all comments you've had in response, now. Just wanted you to kmow that you're not alone.
