Ok... so I am really struggling to find a lunch type meal that isn't too heavy is easy to digest is portable (incase I need to have lunch out) easy and quick to prepare but also a good amount of calories (as i need to gain weight).
My diet has gotten a bit better recently. Toast and yogurt for breakfast, jacket potato for dinner... I just can't get a lumch that doesn't make me sick
Any ideas????
Also I've been looking at having bananas but I've seen mixed things about them... I thought they'd be good as their recommended as part of the BRAT diet but some places say no.
I find it easier to eat pureed food so I was thinking of having one of these banana pouches: ocado.com/webshop/product/P...
What do you think??
I appreciate everyone's help and understanding ☺

Hey hun, I have IBS D and during a flare up I find that I am able to eat rice, crackers, Bananas and eggs and oats! And a very filling combo is making a banana and oat smoothie, just pop banana, oats dry and uncooked is fine() and a little water in a blender and tadaa your done! Very filling and oats are very easy on the stomach! You could also add yogurt if you can eat that!
You could also try soups perhaps, you can certainly boiled potatoes and blend them, but depending on what other veggie you can currently eat it might be a very plain soup, perhaps something to test out you are at home!
I used to take rice to work and hear it up really well in the microwave or take in some boiled eggs and rice or rice and crackers. Oddly I was able to eat rice and tuna at once point but I can't right now!
I either had a huge IBS attack or I got a gastro infection and just had the most horrible few days of cramps diarrhea and aches and chills and now I am back to square one with my diarrhea! And I am back on the plain diet of rice and crackers lol!
I am glad your finding you can eat more things! It's great when you start feeling better! Just don't do what I did and think your better and eat too many naughty foods as your IBS might come back to bite you in the bum!
Oh no that's terrible you've ended up going back it's so horrible when it's so bad and you can't eat
I struggle to eat any foods when there whole I find it easier to drink my calories or have mashed/pureed foods. Hence why I was thinking of the banana product in my link above because it is puree. Do you think this would be ok as a snack? Do you think I should worry about the amount/kind of sugars because it's fruit?
I don't know about that particular banana puree, as I couldn't see the ingredient information, but in essence bananas are very good for your tummy! The problem with buying things per packaged is that they often have more suave and preservatives! But I'd you read it and it sounds good then give it a try! Alternatively you can make your own, blend banana or banana and oats/ other things you can eat and out it in a ziplock pouch or container! Then you will know it has no added sugar! If sugar is an issue for you then maybe try and avoid very ripe bananas! As they are more sugary! But it's all about what works for you!xx
There is just 100% bananas and the sugars is 12g but I'm guessing this is just naturally occurring in bananas... so bananas can't cause sickness there good for digestion??
Bananas tend to be considered safe for most people but everyone is different! I don't know about the 12g! It's best to try eating some mushed up Banana and I'd that agrees with you, try this banana puree!
Bananas are great and soothes the digestive system. If at home have a toasted banana sandwich and cup of tea for lunch. Find yourself a nutritionist who will help you with good foods that will help soothe your system wuthout upsetting it. Toasted sandwiches are good, wrap up put in lunch cooler bag and take to work etc.
Thank you... I find it easier to eat mashed or blended or pureed foods... basiclly drink my calories so i was looking for a drinkable snack... do you think the banana product ive put in the link is acceptable...
Unfortunately, I cannot eat bananas and in any case, prefer savoury flavours, so I make soups to take to work for lunches. Batch cooking chicken and 'safe' veggies, or just veg soup and storing in the freezer in portions works for me. Blitzed or not , as you wish.(Also makes good use of a chicken carcase, so very economical). Grab and go in the morning and microwave at work. Plenty of seasoning /herbs perks it up a bit.
I would try to avoid processed food as the one you indicate since they are normally full of sugars, sweeteners and other additives. You can always carry a banana, smash it and eat it on toast.
These are some of the lunch options I take to work, in case it helps:
- sandwich of GF bread with almond butter.
- sandwich of GF bread with sliced turkey or smoked salmon.
