Hello,

Having a meh time of it recently, I find it hard to put weight on anyway, so my go to is yougurts and cakes, but am now lactose intolerant. I also love healthy snacks nuts and fruits, but that hates me at the moment.

Anyone have some good snack ideas for in the day time please?

Thanks in advance

Just going to toss ideas out, some may bug your gut, maybe some won't. Really depends what your triggers are and whether you're looking for savory or sweet.

Seeds? Rice cakes with hummus or guacamole? Baked flavoured chickpeas? Homemade muffins or banana bread? Veggies you're tolerant of? Jerky? Frozen blended bananas (kind of like ice cream)? ......

Still fining my way in the dark with triggers again :( so hit and miss sometimes. I will give some of what you said another go. I probably don't try for long enough and when it works I go cake crazy and ruin it all !!!!!

I need to be stricter with this, oooooooo frozen blended bananas :) tasty

What about bananas? They are a fruit recommended when you have diarrhea... And slices of avocados? I say that because I love them! :) What about popcorn? Good luck to you! I'm sure others will come up with some really good ideas, too!

Best thing for D is rice rolls. Just plain boiled white rice. I have a recipe coming out later today. Www.coconutandwhat.com

All over Asia we eat this (some people add different flavours) great for eating throughout the day. Easy and gentle on the stomach and healing too.

Fruits and veggies can be real triggers for some of us. Have you checked the FODMAPS elimination diet out? It's helped many of us identify triggers. Of course, other triggers can exist. A food diary is key as well. On days you have reactions look at everything you ate. It could be something as simple/small as corn starch in a sauce or preservatives in a prepackaged item.

Also - what foods are you most missing? Maybe someone here has a recipe/solution.

Yep, I used to love fruits and veg, would eat so much of both and nuts and seeds, all seems to upset me now. I really need to work at healing my gut for longer than a few days and then slowly re indrduce.

Yeah am generally on fodmaps, avoid onions etc and work with the rest at best, but I fall off the wagon, when out it can be hard sometimes to find suitable things to eat, so I just starve.

Am doing a food diary again, and looking log term!! Thanks for your support and words.

Are you using dairy free spread like Pure - you can use it to make your own cakes

Raw carrot and celery or rice cakes for a snack

Why do you need snacks - 3 meals a day

Yep using the dairy free stuff :)

Thanks for the snack ideas.

I tend to be a snacker, little and often, I have a good breakfast and snack through the day, health stuff, then a larger meal in the evening, just what my body likes I guess :)

Humous would also be good

Hi Myrtle...someone totally took one of my Anxiety community posts wrong.... and proceeded to PM me that people now turned against me and ...this is what hurt: That I was a 'typical Yank' :( ... I am hardly a prejudiced person country wise.... Sheesh! Plus my ancestors came from Britain.... :)

Wow thanks for the information. Sadly my Doctors just aren't great tbh, and I have to have multiple trips to get any good information from them, then they were really off with my and just shrugged with the 'you have IBS - live with it' line!!! Leaves you hanging I guess, yeh I get ppl are dying etc from other things, but this ibs is awful!

Since cutting the dairy out I do generally feel better, and things go better, I just cheat way too much as I get reaaaaally hungry, so need snacks most of the time to keep me going. I weigh very little generally so worry about my weight and like to keep it on if I can. It is hard when things just go through you. Sounds we have the same body type too.

Annoyingly I have a good few weeks, all solid poops and all, then I ate something to ruin it. I like the idea of eating to heal your gut and the lactose problem as well, tbh I might pay to go to a nutritionist privately, but then everyone is different, we are all on our own journeys with this!

How did you get tests done? On the nhs? How are you now with your ibs?

Thanks in advance for your time :) xx

Thanks, Pandora...I appreciate your kind words.... I am 'old enough to know better' :) when it comes to letting stuff like that hurt me...but it always passes! ..... Whoever said that IS right... or it hits one's 'buttons' that makes one feel threatened or uncomfortable... I know this from experience, too.! :) We all keep livin' and learnin'....
