Hello!

Endoscopy has got to be easier than a colonoscopy. My only complaint was that it hurt a bit more while healing. (I had biopsies taken.)

You’re asleep for the procedure just as you are for a colonoscopy. I’d prefer getting endoscopy over a colonoscopy any day.

I have had 2 endoscopys and refused sedation on both occasions.

On reflection I should have opted for sedation as the first time I underwent it was 20minutes and they sorted the ulcer as as well as a camera they have means to attend to things.

I went some months later to see if everything was cleared up and it was a much shorter and easier to do.

I’ve had an endoscopy with sedation, I was so nervous beforehand but I don’t remember any of it really, it seemed like it was over in a minute, it’s weird. it’s like you know where you are but you’re not aware of what they are doing and there’s no panic or anything it’s the strangest thing and I’m so glad I had sedation. I don’t actually know how long it took. The only thing I remember was I was very very sore the next day. It just felt like I had done a major work out. I remember coming round from the sedation like... wow was that it? Good luck I’m sure it’ll be fine!!

I have had two endoscopes.one with sedation and one without. If I ever had to have another I would go for without as it was easy and means you can go home a lot quicker.much easier than a colonoscopy.Good luck it will soon be over.

Not having had a colonoscopy, but heard the horror stories about that procedure, I’d say you’ll find endoscopy a doddle.

I had a gastroscopy about a year ago and was quite apprehensive, but it was really not bad at all. Additionally, I spoke to the guy who had the procedure immediately before me. He said that the consultant had offered him a sedative, but had said that he (the consultant) wouldn’t have one himself.

He said the same to me and I declined the sedative and it was all fine. It’s weird and you do have to follow instructions carefully, but it doesn’t take long and I’d be happy to have it done again tomorrow.

Good luck - you won’t need it!

I had an endoscopy last year. I was quite nervous about it so opted for sedation. It was fine. I would have sedation again because it just makes the process less stressful. You are aware of conversation etc but can’t really feel what there are doing. It seemed to be over in no time.

Also had a colonoscopy previously - the endoscopy is preferable.

Good luck!

I had one last Wednesday at the same time as a Colonoscopy. I took sedation and can't remember a thing about it. They did the Gastroscopy first. Good luck x

I've had both an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy and was okay with both procedures. You'll be absolutely fine tomorrow :)
