has anyone had the camera pill endoscopy,if so did it show up anything colonoscopy etc had missed,Ive had colonoscopy, scan, barium enima and they did not show up anything to account for my severe symptoms,I have all the normal IBS symptoms C/D, bloating, abdo pain, gas, but also get flair ups of doubling up pain severe vomiting that lasts up to 2 hours without being able to move from toilet it then turns to diareah for another hour or so and in between don't know which end its going to come out of, after this I am completely washed out for about 4days.the camera pill travels through your entire tract taking pictures for around 8 hours and can see if theres any problems in small intestines,I have contacted y hospital to see if I can have one but doubt they will give me one.

Hi Cassie

I'm new to this as not had a diagnosis but having the symptoms of most of the other members ... your symptoms sound especially severe ... you shouldn't have to fight this alone ... I reckon you need a serious discussion with your GP to highlight your situation ... if necessary the GP will need a pass (excuse the pun) from the local CCG (local commissioners with the purse strings) as it may need funding???? Surely the stress of the frustration of this and "fighting it alone" is an unnecessary barrier ... take care ... it's a real disability in your case big time ... good luck 🍀

Hi cassie17,

I think if anybody deserves to get this test done then you do, your symptoms sound really horrendous.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to have it as it's readily available on the NHS.

If you do get a refusal from your local hospital, ask your GP for a referral to one where you might have more success - remember, it's your right to be treated in any hospital anywhere in the UK. It's also much more cost-effective than traditional endoscopy.

I wish you well with this and do let us know how you get on.

Hi there I too want one, it basically shows the time it takes to digest your food anda y. Lockages.

Hi there Cassie, I'm so sorry that you have such awful symptoms, to be sick and have diarrhoea on a regular basis is debilitating and as you say washes you out for 4 days, this cannot be good for you as you must lose so many minerals and vitamins. If anyone deserves this test it's you so I wouldn't take no for an answer.

I get nausea, which I have at the moment, and that is bad enough but to actually vomit and have diarrhoea is far too much to put up with.

I really hope you get somewhere and find out what's making you this poorly.

Take care x

Alicia

Hi cassie

I’m in the UK. am due for a NHS capsule endoscopy in early june because my whole GI tract (mouth to ass) is too hypersensitive for Barium followthrough or MRI with contrast.

The aim is to examine small intestines (i’ve had a lifetime of routine gastroscopies & colonoscopies, resulting in helpful diagnoses).

Just hoping you’re feeling some improvements by now....and wondering how much your capsule endoscopy helped you & your doctors figure out your GI issues & how to treat them?

I know it’s a while back you posted and it may have just been a flare up, but I have had this scenario for many years and have just been for ct scan and been told I have a small gallstone. I too was in absolute agony, been sick and diahorea for two to three hours. Couldn’t keep anything down for next 12 hours. Got to see GP he sent me to A and E they didn’t do much and sent me home but organised ct scan. When I got the results and looked up gallstones it kind of made sense. I often had a very severe pain often with the sickness and diahorea or it was pain on its own, then after two or three hours and pain relief it would go away. I realised this was probably a stone being passed out. Sorry bit graphic now, I often get bits in poo like chopped nuts, I eat nuts so thought nothing of it, but could possibly have been small bits of stones. I am recovering at the moment and like you feel dreadful, haven’t ever felt this ill before, I tried an elimination diet and that is when I became very ill. I am now trying to eat a low fat diet and plenty of water and drinks of ginger tea and my own juices with cuecumber, celery and ginger in with other fruit or veg to help clear my system. Hope you are better now and have had help from your GP. Apologies for long post.
