A rest from IBS and diverticulosis!

I am currently suffering from the worst chest infection ?? I have ever had. Dr thinks it may be pneumonia! I am on nebuliser, steroids, antibiotics and strong ibuprofen for severe chest pain. Since starting all these I have gone the other way hardly passing anything but water (drinking a great deal.of water with tablets). I am relieved not to have diarrhoea daily but concerned about what is happening to "my waste"! Anyone else had issues like this? I will be represcribed antiobiotics and steroids which incidentally gave me diarrhoea earlier this year with yet another bout of bronchitis! Maybe its the Ibuprofen!

Hi just wondering if you have ever had a test for Dysbiosis? Look it up and see what you think.😀

Sorry to hear you are so unwell. Hoping you recover soon. I think it might be the Ibuprofen, I get The same with paracetamol now, don’t go for days if I have even two. Check with GP that ibuprofen is the most suitable. Take care Jackie

Just wondering what antibiotics you are taking? Some people think IBS is due to bad bacteria so I wonder if those antibiotics have killed it off. If they have they’ll have killed off your good bacteria too which is probably why you can’t “go”. Water, probiotics and high FODMAP fruit should help. You just might feel worse before you feel better.

I was on clsrithromycin then doxycycline which badly affected me in 3 hours. Am on acidopholous, on FODMAP for over 3 years but cannot tolerate a lot of fruits so take vit c capsule. I am allergic to citrus fruits and bananas, and keep away from apples as too high in fructose. I feel I am a walking disaster area at the moment! Was going on holiday next mon ins co are putting claim thro. It was switzerland but too cold for my breathing according to gp.

Hi Sammysmum, youve been on the fodmap for over 3 yrs! Ive been on it for 6 months and its really getting me down, how do you cope with it?

I just stick with the "basics" as several foods I tried to reintroduce still affected me. It may look and sound boring especially when eating out or on holiday but I would prefer to stick with what I know does not affect me. A friend in the village is the same been on it for 9 months longer than me. It irritates my husband somewhat when eating out but he is very supportive. I have accepted I have food issues and if friends do not understand, which happens, then thats their problem. Turns out I have a severe bout of chronic bronchitis, on ciprofloxacin, mucodyne (syrup) and beclometasone inhaler as well as ventolin nebuliser. Have ordered probiotics to counter the antibiotics.

Ibuprofen is a killer, if i take it i get such severe constipation u must b careful.

Try to take some kind of stool softener or laxative or

Ur have other problems ie hems or fissure or constipation pain. Also u may wana try some probiotics as it will keep ur gut bacteria healthy otherwise u could get candida or sibo.

Im sorry u are so ill

The phsrmacist recommended strong ibuprofen but gp said not to take it! My friend is asthmatiic and is warned not to take it either. Think I have some improvement I have been asleep, yippee. For tbe past 2 wks not had more than 3hrs sleep a night! The probiotics should arrive monday. Thanks e everyone.

Good luck ❤️

I found probiotics, digestive enzymes, goin dairy and gluten free helped me massively and i only eat little and often now no big meals, it makes the colon work to hard then ur get pain.

Also as everyone says try to stay away from spice, onions and garlic... i make all my food from scratch so i know whats in it no pre made supermarket dinners even if gluten free as there usually full of spice or onions.

If u have a bad day i find the next day i fast and it all calms down again.
