Hi everyone wonder if you can help me with this please. I have had sludge sitting in my Gall bladder for years. Been confirmed on ultrasound. Very occasionally I have an episode for about a week of stitch like pain in my right side that moves around under my ribs, in my side, above my right hip & nausea. Leading up to this my IBS is all over the place altering between constipation, diarrhoea & then totally normal. I also feel really tired & lethargic. I have seen a consultant & he advised it was biliary colic & gave me Buscopan & Co Codamol. ( I cannot take Ibuprofen ).
Have had just such an attack since the weekend & today I have had very watery yellowy diarrhoea ( sorry to be graphic ). Have taken Immodium for it. Also have mild niggly pains above left hip that Buscopan relieves. Also hot water bottle helps.
Anyone else get symptoms like this. TIA.

sorry Maccafan , colic is so painful. Maybe it’s your gallbladder playing up? I’m having the colic but not the diarrhea, so think it’s ibs for me, but my mum had symptoms like yours & had to get her gallbladder removed. Hope you feel better soon x
I had my biliary sludge removed via ERCP however I’ve had my gallbladder removed and was still getting issues. Removing the sludge didn’t help me but it does for a lot of people. Good luck
I had sludge in my gall bladder. I was getting pain after eating. I had my gall bladder removed but I have been even worse since it was removed. That was years ago, and I still have problems, I have to stick to a practically fat free diet.
have you been invested for sphincter of oddi dysfunction? It’s very rare but happens after gallbladder removed, I had this if you Google it will explain in more detail why you could still be suffering pain and there are treatments available for SOD xx
Yes. I had my Sphincter of oddi cut in hope it would help with the pain but it didn't it gave me acute pancreatitis after the procedure. I have tried a couple of different medication that didn't help either. I have to stick to a fat free diet otherwise the spasms get very bad. Buscopan sometimes helps it depends how the pain is.
I had the same thing done and it also made my symptoms worse some people have Botox and I wish I had that before the cut looking back. Antispasmodics do nothing for me I have to take diazepam to help but it has limited effects on a low dose longterm so I do feel your pain it’s horrible x
I was never offered Botox. I don't think they want to do any more procedures because of what happened with me getting pancreatitis last time. I couldn't cope with that pain it was horrendous.
This is my story. I been having strong abdominal pain every day. Doctors said it was my gallbladder because it has stones. Although I could eat fat with no problem. Finding no relief I accepted the surgery. It didnt help at all just made things alot worse for me. Granted my pain is not as bad as before. Nonetheless, I now have to deal with other consequences. Maybe give a whole food diet a try. Nothing package or human made (seed oils, sugars, chips, etc). Hopefully that will clear some of the sludge out. Wishing you well!!
I take Buscopan it works for me, I have co codalmal for pain, it was working for my arthritis, I take it in low doses. I only have half a dose, more often. Know more then 3 a day, every body is different. Hopefully you will find what works for you.
Dr prescribed Buscopan for my ibs and it helps me a lot , this week I have ibs attack and it’s painful because I have acid reflux with ibs and it’s a horrible case , I hope you get well soon and everyone suffers from any pain. Amen
