Thanks for welcoming me into your group, I came about it whilst browsing online. My situation:
Male 54, Type 1 diabetic (23 years well controlled) insulin pump and self fund Constant Glucose Monitor.
Since lockdown/pandemic I have fitted the criteria for IBS, and it has been the same ever since. Either severe diarrhoea, stomach (central) dull ache, washing machine noises, sometimes nausea, lack of energy, loss of appetite. I have seen my GP and had blood and stool sample tests taken as well as Covid test, all came back negative! I have just posted another stool sample to the colo rectal dept. Then I guess I wait and see if camera is next step. No signs of blood or dramatic weight loss. We do have a private water supply and I am sticking to bottled water for now. I’ve not suffered from anxiety before and wonder whether this may be the cause?

Hello I have had it a while but unpleasant change in symptoms recently. Is lockdown a contribution?, it was an anxious time for all of us. I had to change my diet I was also ill with a virus back in march and it's not been good since.
It's good that they are investigating further a lot of people have negative tests and symptoms worsen. I am just asking for help with blood tests after being told my pains might be posture 🤣
Thank you, fingers crossed! I am worried about the possibility of Gastric Covid 19, It is possible that no or little respiratory Symptoms will be symptomatic, if so I have had it a while and after researching I do fit the symptoms, (I wonder why the media don’t seem to report on Gastric Covid!) despite living in an isolated countryside location and have completely stuck to the safe distancing rules etc. Maybe you are in the same boat?
I agree with you, let's hope we get some answers. I was working back at the time but have been very cautious since my illness in March. Take care for now I have found this group really helpful.
I am only a layperson but it seems logical to me that if you have a predisposition to tum troubles this virus will make its presence felt.
If I get a cold it usually finishes with a bout of diarrhoea as the virus leaves my body. The scientists are still learning about this virus and I am sure that if the collected data suggests gastric upsets are another symptom of this terrible virus it will be made known.
I have never had a gastric problem before, so, just coincidence? There is a lot of evidence online that Gastric Covid does exist and might be more prevalent than currently thought. Hopefully but not entirely confident that tests; particularly the current Covid test is effective.
Your gut is the "centre" of emotions and yes, I believe anxiety is playing havoc with people the uncertainty of this virus. For me a confirmed IBS-d sufferer my anxiety has lessened as I am at home. In your case it is good you are having tests and may put your mind at rest. Good luck and keep safe🤞
I had IBS-D for years, then i was introduced to a nutritionist, who specialises in it, she knew exactly what to do and now i live without embarrassment or anxiety. No pain, no cramp, no explosions, no madness. I'm forever in her debt and the best bit was i didn't even have to leave the house to get the answer, she did it all by phone and Skype and sent me a detailed guide as to what to do. I hope you find an answer quickly but if you want to get in touch with her, I'll dig out her details.
