I have had chronic diarrhoea for around 4 weeks, I'm going to the toilet at least 4 times a day and as a result I am loosing weight, baring in mind i am very slim anyway. I have started to get minor cramps in my stomach the last few days but they are not too painful. Has anyone else ever had the same problem? If so what was the causes? Any info would be great

Have you spoken to a doctor about this? If you haven't, then you should make an appointment to do so asap.
There are many things of which continuous diarrhoea can be a symptom and you need tests to try and determine the cause.
Yes I agree. You must see your doctor to get a diagnosis before doing anything else.
Had you been away on holiday before the diarrhoea started? If so you may have picked up a bug which needs treating. Or you might have salmonella, which can also be treated.
Don’t assume you have IBS before you have ruled out other possibilities.

Hi Kirsty, totally agree with Pagan and Angus in that you need to ask for tests at the doctors as it could be food poisoning or something else.
I had that, and found out it was something I was eating,I used to eat cereals for breakfast, the big culprit was OATIBIX I really liked them, stopped eating them, and it stopped the diarrhoea, you dont say if you have seen your GP ?
We all can support you when we know what we are dealing with but I agree with all the family on this site go and see your GP then please come back and tell us what he/she said. Good luck
Hi thank you all for your replies, I went to the GP yesterday, he couldn't understand why it's been happening therefore he has sent me for blood tests next week, he also gave me tablets to slow down the stools so fingers crossed this will help.
Hope all goes well with the diagnosis OR it all clears up in the interim.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
All the best, Angus
