Hi - Just thought I would share my experience. I do have diverticulosis & occasionally I get overflow diarrhoea. Today I have experienced the worse I have had. I took a fybrogel last night. This morning for two hours I have had severe cramping & pain, which made me feel I was going to pass out. All I was passing was watery d. I couldn’t relax or even sit down. I was pacing the floor like I was in labour! I have now had a bm, which has gained me some relief, but now my abdomen & lower stomach feels like I’ve been kicked by a horse & very weak and shaky 😫. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips? I was on my own & got a bit anxious as what to do.
Thanks for taking the time to read this & best wishes to you all 🤗

You say you have diverticulosis. Do you think this might have become diverticulitis, so your diverticulum has become infected? I suggest you talk to your GP. This must have been very scary by yourself.
you will need to monitor the symptoms over night and into tomorrow one way of finding out for sure if its infection or inflammation is when u eat as eating always causes pain if yiu have an infection or inflammatuon of the colon
Sorry to hear you have been going through this. I also have diverticular disease (as well as IBS). Sometimes I have similar symptoms to yours, cramping and pain often lasting for several hours, can’t do much. I have to take paracetamol and lie down. Sometimes I think it might be exacerbated by eating egg, which can make me feel as if I have been kicked in the stomach.
Sorry I don’t have any real solutions but you are not alone.
I went to my GP this morning and she thinks I have diverticulitis and has given me some antibiotics. Reading the info with them it seems they will make diarrhoea and any bowel inflammation worse!
Oh dear...it's so horrible to be alone and to go through a traumatic day. I am sorry.
I do feel for you, because I have had bad times too (not with the exact same thing, but just a "horrible day") and felt so alone etc.
You probably did the right thing to take the Fybogel because it got things moving which I presume was a "proper" one and not just watery overflow?
But the after effects of all that aren't very nice. I haven't had the exact thing you have, but I would say do anything kind you can think of to your poor tummy.
Maybe a warm hot water bottle (not too hot) or massage with some moisture lotion etc. Or a warm bath to relax the muscles and make yourself feel a bit nicer generally. A nice vegetable stew or soup might be a good thing to eat when you feel hungry, maybe some carrots and potatoes, and few greens or green beans.
In addition to the other tips, I use a heating pad on my stomach the few times I have had severe pain like you mentioned. It helped me relax enough to go to sleep.
