hi, sorry i cant give you any answers ( suffer chronic constipation) may i ask what sort of colonic irregation you use ? , if so was it suggested by your doctor or was it your idea/solution? sorry so many questions! i hope you get some helpful answers.

Hi, sorry I don't have any answers either but I used to go to someone to have colonic irrigation but stopped as the last couple of times I went I was actually getting worse. I would visit the doctor as I would say that colonic irrigation every day may harm you.

I hope you get some answers and best of luck.

Hi Neil, I will take it as said that you have a good fibre diet and drink lots of water.

Hubby has ibs c and if it becomes difficult adds the following

Take Fibregel twice a day after food

Pineapple

and also takes silicolgel which you can buy from Boots the Chemist. It is expensive but it eases the transition of waste through the colon so the consistency becomes more normal.

I would suggest though that you go back to your doctor. Manual manipulation is really not the best way forward and, personally, not in favour of colonic irrigation. I gather in the US it is used regularly to prevent build up of waste in diverticuliti. If you do have diverticuliti then it is suggested to keep clear of tomatoes as the pips can irritate.

A good exercise routine is also advisable as this helps transition and of course, easily said than done, try not to stress

Regards

JP

Hi, silicolgel is the second natural occurring substance found on the earth apart from oxygen. The pharmacist, herself suffering from ibs c and d found this the best medication so far. She said it has really regulated her. So bought a bottle for hubby and his symtems subsided.

Ok it may not work for all but if you have tried FODMAP, med diet, and everything else under the sun it might be worth a try.

Regards JP

I use Qufora mini system or sometimes Peristeen in the morning, prescribed to me by a colorectal nurse, and I sometimes have to use it again in the afternoon as I have same problem as you. I also use 'digitation'/ 'splinting'. TMI I know. I take Movicol when things are bad, and I have VSL 3 probiotic on prescription which also helps.

I use Qufora Irrsedo Cone with 500ml to irrigatie every morning . Usually everything goes well. But obviosly everything does not come away. I go again naturally 30 - 40 mins later after alight breakfast. I go well but stomach pains can continue all morning . NOT PLEASANT

I don't know anything else to try. I get up very early, usually 5am, when I'm working. I have breakfast and then about 40/50 mins later use the bathroom, followed by Qufora irrigation. if things aren't good I have a cup of liquorice tea (yuck but I've got used to it) and wait a bit longer then hopefully go before leaving for work. Things are usually ok until mid morning, then if I have a coffee (consultant said strong coffee once a day is quite effective) I go again. I'm usually in discomfort by end of the day and when I get home sometimes have to use irrigation again.

I find it all very time consuming and exhausting. Things are better when I'm not working and can take each day as it comes, but it can also mess up holidays away when my family want to go out and do things and I need a lot of time to get ready/ use the bathroom.

Do you see a consultant? Have you got a diagnosis for your problems?

Good luck.

My doctor recommended Oxytech

You buy them from a health company off the internet, Dulwich Health Ltd, not cheap £45 for 180 capsules, but they are effective

I tend to take one a day

Also Holland & Barrett Colon cleanse tablets (Aloe Vera) are good

All the best, it’s all trial and error in my experience

Had this palaver for over a year now
