Hello again I was just wondering if there are any of you fellow ibs sufferers that regularly have a colonic irrigation? I suffer with ibs-d and I have heard through friends of friends that it can be really beneficial. Ibe never had one personally but would value any of your experiences. .. good or bad!
Colonic irrigation : Hello again I was just... - IBS Network
Colonic irrigation
I have to say that I would personally avoid this as seeing IBS is all about blance and flooding your system and then expelling it all in one big batch might make you feel a bit better for a very short time I tend to find that when there is space your body will fill it with something and empty for me usually equals gas and gas for me is exceptionally painful. Also when i am fully empty I tend to get bouts of dizziness.
So if it was me I would say - avoid.
Caveman did not have colonics unless caveman ate bad saber tooth tiger, then cavaman had a problem...
Caveman didn't have all the chemicals/force grown foods or other crap we /our bodies have to put up with which isn't natural plus nore is likes of Coke/bread/cakes/and GMO gear so Caveman reasoning isn't applicable in this case!
If you have IBS symptoms and still eat all that junk then all those items should be removed from the diet before thinking that a colonic is the answer. If I could consistently eat junk and all I needed to do was to get a colonic to fix it I would have a totally new diet strategy. I can careless what people do to themselves or what people think might help. Science and testing is what it comes down too and colonics, coffee enemias, etc really have no proof of helping. That said what people think helps them is a pretty powerful deal in the case of IBS as so many of the issues can be helped by positive mental state changes.
I would think that colonic irrigation will make the bowel lazy
Have you tried your own intolerance tests, like leaving one food group out of your diet for at least 2/3 weeks, keeping a food and bowel movement diary to see what changes there might be
Sorry for my English, I am a Dutchman with severe IBS.
My doctor prescribed irrigation for me with a device. It can contain 2 liters of (warm!) water.
When I clean my colon once ore twice a week (more is prohibited by my doctor) my colon feels softer.
When the water comes out, I also get rid of a lot of gass. This is a more effective and better painkilling than any medicine like Tramadol or Diclofenac.
The irrigation device is called Coloplast No 1511.
I do'nt know if it is avaible all over the world. If you can give it a try.
After irrigation my sleep improves a lot, because the spasms decrease.
I hope this will also be usefull for YOU!!!
Regards, Hansjelle, Netherlands
Think name is Peristeen from Coloplast pretty good device.
Gives you options so enables you to live better so whats not to like about it?
Once lower bowel is emptied the higher stuff can move along!
Peristeen is a pump device which works in a similar way to the old-fashioned enema syringe, whereas the Coloplast 1511 is a gravity device. There is good information about Peristeen on the Coloplast website.
My daughter had it regularly and found it great, she to had fermentation and gas, but now just takes garlic tablets every day to stop fermentation and a good probiotic.
I've suffered with chronic constipation & ibs for over 20 years, I eat a good balanced diet however it is the nerves and muscles that prevent me from going. The next course of action for me was a stoma bag, this I must be honest I refused point blank. I've been on every laxative medicine, tablets, softener, muscle relaxant & herbal remedy available without success.
Last week I was started on a colonic irrigation device that I use st home and the results have been fantastic. I've been to the toilet without pain, naturally for the first time in twenty years.
This was provided by the bowel & bladder in nurse on our Nhs, yes a little embarrassing but it's made such a difference to be whole physical wellbeing.
It may not be for everyone and it takes a little getting used to but you have nothing to loose by trying it.
Take care
Jk
Hi like you i get bunged up so much so it blocks pan from flushing even eating plenty of so called right gear! but roughage makes me worse not better have my own enema kit i got but My specialist after ive had all clear from Endoscopy clinic is going to sort that out for me to use as easier plus once Bathrooms all done and dusty praise be anyone!!! i'l have a wetroom so easier to deal with.
I absolutely recommend colonics. I have done it from Clear living clinic in Toronto and planning to get one this week. My friend is a colon hydrotherapist there which made it affordable for me. It just takes toxic stuff that's already ready to be released and gets it out of you. If you're feeling awful you can trust colon hydrotherapy( coloncleansetoronto.ca/serv... ) to help you.
Yes I had them on a regular basis some years back and then the penultimate and final ones I had left me feeling poorly for days. So my experience was that they worked for quite a while and then I was poorly. All in all I would say avoid - diet is the only answer.
Best of luck
