Hi Nesco.

I'm intrigued . Are you having this through NHS?

Do you normally go that long without going to the toilet

I'm trying to push for a transit test. I believe after this they may do a colonopsy to see if there is a damage to the bowels which cud be causingthe transit time. Maybe medication will be offered

Xx

Good luck today. I have been severely constipated all my life (50 years) but I’ve never been offered a transit test. In seeing the consultant this afternoon so I might ask why!

Is it a test for bacteria in the gut?

If this test does not reveal what’s going on ask for Dysbiosis test.

Hi everyone i have found simple bran which is cheap and very natural helps with diarrhea and constipation. Three teaspoons eaten with cornflakes for example should help. Its available in health food shops. Don't use "Allbran" it's too severe. Good luck, i think we are all looking forward to your results.

Sicknesses good luck. @Eastbourne11 please, what is the name of the Bran?

Personally I find oatmeal better for me as I find bran causes bloating. But even with that, supplements don’t always fix the problem.

Hi guys thanks so much, Good news is I don't need an op on my spine, not much change in 4 years slipped disc in level 5/6 &7/8, bad news is got to wait for full report before I know anything, still not been to the loo, but started a new med today, so hoping that will help, how did youget on with your cconsultant app Julielesley, and Sammy no it measures how long food travels through your gut.xx

I have had this done and have slow transit constipation. I am on medication called Linaclotide. It works differently to normal laxatives and you take one a day half an hour before food. It is excellent. No cramps, just relief within a few hours. They offer this on the nhs for idiopathic and chronic constipation.

What medication have you been given?

When you have a problem like ours, suggesting to simply have more bran does nothing. I have tried everything.

Wow Pat1 , You are Physcic

Was going to ask who has tried this med as iv been prescribed this by my Gastro Dr I started it Monday morning, after not going for 11 days, I had a bm Monday night, then another dose yesterday morning, and iv been again this morning, although extremely painful and bloody, I feel better.x I agree I have tried all prescribed laxative and most over the counter laxative, plus tried all diets, alternative therapy, nothing worked apart from 5/6 Dulcolax plus 25 ml of sodium picolsfate every night, but would then be like water, I'm sorry for so much detail, but it is relevant ,

Pat1 how long have you been on this med? X

I have been taking it for about 3 months. My consultant said I can take it for a couple of years and beyond that. Persevere, as initially you have to clear your system out. Do you take it half an hour before food in the morning? I sometimes take it in the evening as I work. It works a bit more severely if you take it too close to food, but I sometimes find it better at clearing me out.

I don't usually eat until teatime if at all, but it does state 30/60 minutes before food, I'm hopeful, it's all I have atm, iv not been enjoying life at all so fingers crossed. Xx
