Hello, I am new here and really need some help. I had my gallbladder removed last year, following an infection. Since then, I det an ache there, but it is manageable. About 6 weeks ago I got a kidney infection, and have terrible stomach pain since then. It is like a burning, twisting pain, sometimes very cold undr my right rib area. I have been to the doctor several times and given antispasmodics. I keep thinking it has gone, it it comes back. Sometimes it is really bad and then I get a lot of gurgling and it feels a bit better. I am having a scan to check on an ovarian cyst in a few weeks, and they are also going to check kidney s etc. Can anyone offer any advice? Can ibs and possible adhesions give this much pain? Thanks.

Pain under ribs could be hepatic flexture syndrome , part of ibs symptoms. Hope this helps and all goes well with your scans and you feel better soon 😊

Adhesions, it is my understanding can give the type of pain you describe esp. of the pulling kind. I myself am dealing with this possibility right now after having an abdominal operation last year. Was your operation done laparoscopily or via laparotomy?

Thanks - i havent heard of that - thanks for your reply!
I get a pain under my ribs with ibs but my pain is predominantly on the left side. The pain I get under my rib is like bad trapped wind but feels like something is trapped under my rib. I don't know whether this is the sort of pain you're experiencing. I hope all goes well with your scans and they are able to sort you out.
Good luck
Sarah
Just throwing this out there - sometimes any idea helps. I don't have personal experience in this, but I know my mother can't eat eggs after having her gallbladder out because of the crazy things it does to her digestive system.
