Hi Cassie. I take 10mg of Amitriptyline every evening for neuropathic pain connected with IBS - Levator Ani Syndrome. In my case, the pain began to improve after about a week, but my IBS has been helped to some extent by also taking Mebeverine. I believe the tiredness does wear off as your body gets used to the drug, but one tip I read about was to take the Amitriptyline about two hours before you go to bed, not strictly at bedtime. I've been doing this and feel fine in the morning. I have taken it in the past and felt totally spaced out in the morning, but taking it earlier has made a lot of difference to me. I hope it works for you and you're soon feeling much better.
