I am 45 years old suffering for IBS and Diverticular Disease. I would like to be part of this group to share information and know people like me. This situation has a negative impact in my social life since I have to visit the bathroom several times. I would like to know some feedback from you.

Welcome Eva,
What you are experiencing is probably being caused, at least in part, by your reactions to food and food intolerance. You may find some posts on my blog useful: SickofIBS.com
If you go to the homepage sickofibs.com/ there is a sign-up form on the right-hand side you can use to receive my latest posts. Or you can follow me at SickfoIBS on Twitter if you prefer.
I hope you find the content useful

Hi I have IBS/D and I find socialising difficult just like you. I am almost 58; have had problem since I was 23.
I also have depression and anxiety.
I am having help from Minds Matter team; and have had phiysio.
I have had to pester GPs a lot to get anywere at all
I am under investigation for stomach problems - I have fibromyalgia ME and bipolar type 2 - I have been told i have diabetes type 2 , fatty liver disease and possible pancreas problems
I am being referred to a gastroenterologist due to severe stomachs issues
Can you tell me your symptoms and path you've had to go down
I also have ibs and diverticular disease. I was diagnosed age 14 with ibs and age 30 with diverticular disease(im now 38) i have zero social life, i will go out shopping and visit my mum but anything else is nigh on impossible unless i prepare at least a week ahead. I've been on antibiotics at least 14 times and hospitalised once since being told i had diverticular disease due to getting diverticulitus. I use buscopan for cramping which usually bungs me up for a couple of days and loperamide if im going on a long journey or really desperate and have a few days to put up with the constipating side effects.
Food wise I've tried everything over the years and to be honest the only way i will ever be symptom free or feel any relief is to give up food altogether. Some foods are worse than others but only sometimes.
I know when i will flare because i get excruciating back pain and sometimes i wake in the night due to cramping and diarreah(only a few times a year).
I alternate between ibs-c and ibs-d. Ive had 1 endoscopy and 4 colonoscopy, they found stomach polyps on the endoscopy, probably from years of using omeprazole for gerd and my fecal calprotectin levels are elevated. I was due to have an mri for lower bowel colitus but i can't tollerate the prep so have now refused all treatment from my consultant and doctor. After 24 years of poking and prodding i have decided to stick with what i know helps and go it alone.
