Blue inhalers help but no asthma etc? Please help?
Hello, I hope you can hope me, still searching for answers! I was told by my physiotherapist (and a chemist former surgeon) that Ventolin helps people without asthma by relaxing the chest. She noted I never have a cough, wheeze or mucus so she was suspicious of my asthma diagnosis, but we cannot deny

re recovering
I know this sounds silly but I still finding it hard to get my head around what is being recovered from an asthma attack. I had one on monday started taking my steroids (as per my asthma plan which says 7 days) and went to the doctors on Tuesday to tell them I had had an asthma attack. So far I am on

Recurrent croup with respiratory distress age 4 getting worse
Hi, My daughter is nearly 5 and had several A&E visits with 'reactive airways' and 'spasmodic croup' including 2 by ambulance getting as bad as silent stridor close to respiratory failure. I can't sleep, I keep thinking she's going to die and the last admission (the first since March) was horrific!

I keep getting the wrong inhaler?
I usually have the salamol CFC-free inhaler but every time I go to collect them I get the ventolin inhaler which doesn't help. Should I go back to my GP and ask about it?

Fostair not working
Hi, I am taking fostair and ventolin. It's just not working anymore - I can't breathe properly and am finding work difficult. When I see my nurse, she says it's the time of year etcetc. What options can I suggest to her so she doesn't just brush me off again? What has worked for you?

Back again
Hi everyone, I hope your day is behaving itself! I was here a couple of weeks ago introducing myself as possibly having COPD. I had a GP appointment this morning... Repeat chest X-ray is clear. Doc is wondering if I am post viral though I don't remember having any signs or symptoms of a chest virus.

What to do now?
Hi everyone, I'm going to Poland for a few days in December, and I'm worried that the cold might set off another exacerbation - changes in weather seem to be a trigger for me. I was sent home from work last week, after being stubborn and refusing to admit that I was struggling with a peak flow reading

Unstable, uncontrolled asthma and been on every possible inhaler, I'm on xolair also. ANY ONE ON THEOPHYLLINE??
Hello Just a statement above but I'm 54 and under the respiratory team at hospital as I get my xolair injections there every two weeks. Not much improvement imo but I asked about uniphyllin or theophylline and consultant declined. I've been on every inhaler on the market, added into this was spiriva

Hi
Hi All, Diagnosed with late on set asthma at 60. Prior to this had been told my upper respiratory congestion was due to post nasal drip. But things got worse, climbing hills, any rapid change of pace etc. I am a survivor of breast cancer in my 40s, when I had lots of chemo and radio therapy to left side

Wk3r2 :)
Went out just before dark today. Took 2 puffs of Ventolin while getting changed and another just before stepping out the door. Used my buff over my mouth/nose until about half way through the first 3 minutes run. And it was all ok :) Didn't need inhaler during or afterwards :) Hopefully this means that

What can I do?
Been coughing heavily since Friday so went the docs on Monday who listened to my chest and said I didn't have a chest infection but she could hear wheezing and that I was having an asthma flare up/exacerbation (she suggested it could be some sort of virus or the hot/cold damp air) advised me to double

There seem to be quite a few of us completing our first run of week 3 today - although all the others I have read found it a little easier than I did! My main problem was that my legs wanted to go faster than my lungs did! Found it quote tough with breathing towards the end of the 1st 3 min run and took

low peak flow
I am 86 years old and for the past 40 years or so have been diagnosed with COPD. My height is 65 inches and weight 9 stone. My peak flow is usually about 260. It has been around this value for the past 40 years. I take 2 puffs a day of beclamethasone. I run twice a week over about 3 miles across country
