Is it okay for GP to refuse Ventolin prescription?
Hi all, I've had asthma for most of my life (44 years) and in that time had a few really bad episodes. Well, twice now my GP has refused by Ventolin inhaler prescription for not making an asthma review appointment. Okay, I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to making these appointments and I'm a bit rubbish

Day after sport
Yesterday I played my sport in 30 degree heat. I took 2 puffs of ventolin as usual before I started, during the hour of playing I needed 2 puffs twice more due to tight chest, unable to catch my breath/get enough air in. During the evening I felt a bit sore but was ok. Today I've had the feeling of not

Copd?
After a few chest infections the doctor asked me to have a spirometry test. The nurse advised moderate obstruction and gp ordered an x-ray which was normal. He advised although a non smoker and 38 based on spirometry it looks like early copd. On the day of my spirometry it was a high pollen day and I

Newbie. Hi everyone. Any help advice for any extra treatments appreciated. Xx
I was diagnosed with COPD after a bronchoscopy a few years ago. I gave up smoking five years ago as my asthma was getting bad. Have a nebulising machine with Ventolin and saline to get the horrid mucus up. Been put on different sprays and higher saline that is strong and really makes you cough your lungs

Latest advice for stepping up and down inhalers.
Where would I find the latest advice for stepping up and down inhalers? Currently on Fostair 200/6 nexthaler two puffs twice a day and monkelaust. (Since november 2017) What stage does that make me? It used to be 12 weeks without any symptoms e.g not needing Ventolin. Thank you

Stopping Spiriva
Hi everyone I hoping someone has some advice! At my last asthma review last year I was told to reduce my inhalers ( stop Spiriva but continue with ventolin & to drop down to 1 puff instead of 2 puffs twice a os symbicort) she said, because my asthma was stable and no infections or problems. It has taken

Horrible COPD weekend
Hi folks, it's been raining here for what seems like an eternity and I know the rain has my fibro, swelling, pain all flared up, but this weekend has been horrible also on my breathing. I don't know if the weather, the swelling or what but I've had the hardest time catching my breath this weekend and

Weather, story time and a room with not much of a view!
Personally the worst places are polluted cities..I was born in Paris and I recall always having chest infections. GP used to send me to a French mountain resort for children in summer, I had a huge thyroid cyst out and they thought I had a rare form of TB in those days. Then I forgot all about that,

Difficulty getting to sleep because of wheezing, awaking to gasps and coughing, unable to walk round the supermarket without frequent stops, declining social invitations through fear of having an embarrassing attack, you know the thing... I have tried gulping down cough-syrup, and even bought a diffuser

Recently diagnosed with 'possible allergy related' asthma and hoping to get some answers
I was just doagnosed with possible asthma. I have no history nor know anything about Asthma management or symptoms. If anyone could answer some basic questions id be super thankful. Is this normal for asthma: that I feel like there's something stuck in my throat like phlem but it won't clear. I wheeze

Updated pneumonia.
Hi friends. Just to let you know I have been in hospital again. As some of you know I was waking between four and six in the morning struggling to breathe. It came to a head on Wednesday morning at three forty five. On waking my first thoughts are the loo. I struggled to get there gasping for breath.

Pollen, symbicort Smart and ventolin
Any help or advice would be really very much appreciated as I don't know what to do for the best. Briefly I have mild asthma. I say mild as it has gone undiagnosed for years. Diagnosed 2 years ago amongst recurring pneumonia. Because of the pneumonia I am on Symbicort Smart regime. I have never had

Gone Fishing
Went fishing today for the first time in my life, must be entering a new childhood at nearly 70 years of age. Cant believe how tired I was after fishing for 6 hours. The concentration involved watching the float and the elation when catching fish also made my pulse rate rise. The weather was nice for

Confused
Hi, at a recent lung function test i had a two part test, a before and after ventolin test, well the outcome of it was that ventolin made no difference to the readings, but at a later appointment for the results of the test, my respitory nurse said she wasn't going to remove the ventolin from my script

Coping with boredom
Despite having an excellent couple of weeks while on holiday in Lanzarote I’ve now come home and my lungs are really not happy about the pollen! My peak flow has gone from 450 or so to 230 this morning so my maintenance prednisolone has gone back up to 40mg 😩 (although I had only managed to reduce

Another update pneumonia.
Just to bring you all up to speed. I went to the Drs on Thursday night and she said I still had the crackles in my left lung. She took a blood test there and then and sent me for an urgent X Ray which I had the next morning. I rang late afternoon to see if there was anything and they hadn’t even looked
