I saw an allergy specialist who has transformed my asthma and allergies. She basically needed my allergic rhinitis under control to bring down my IgE levels and then everything else would fall in line, my asthma, eczema and all over itching I get when exposed to a trigger. She’s doubled my Fluticasone spray, got me to spray it up my nose in an upside down position so the medicine ends up in the right place in my nose (lying on my side, with my head hanging off the bed, and spraying bottle upside down into my nose). I can double this if breakthrough symptoms. She wants me using cetrizine a lot if triggered, or going near a trigger, not one a day, but a couple at a time, with no restriction, just if I’m reacting I am to take more to mop up the histamine. She’s taken fexofenadine, Spiriva and Flutiform away, giving me back Beometasone but using a volumatic spacer instead of an aero chamber as she said these are much better. She’s kept me on montelukast. She’s given me Flixonase nasal drops as an emergency rescue pack if symptoms spark up all over the place again, in order to regain control of allergic rhinitis. These can be used 3 times a year. She wanted bedding and mattress encased in anti allergy covers, damp wiping when dusting, hoovering mattress wkly. she wanted me to have oily baths for eczema control, relaxing in bath for de-stressing. I’ve stopped the kids lounging all over my bed as they bring allergens in on their hair and clothes. Over the past 7 wks I’ve not needed ventolin once (I was using it roughly 10 times a wk), I’ve not woken in the night with symptoms (I was waking about twice a wk), I’ve not had all over itching, as if I begin to itch I take 2 cetrizine and it calms it. I can now cope with ice-cream and air con without coughing. I’m not breathless, not coughing, my throat is clear. I’m coping with being exposed to triggers v well. She’s transformed me!! I Just need to keep on top of it and I will remain well. 😊😊For me, the route of good control stems from controlling my allergic rhinitis. The difference has been remarkable! Hope this helps some people.

Good to hear you are getting relief Sara,
Thank you. I’ve been amazed at the difference! My Dr had thought nothing could be done, that I was having everything available and was stuck like I was, but I asked to be referred privately to see a specialist. The Consultant immediately said “I can help you” after listening to my history. I thought “Thank goodness for that!” The Consultant did laugh as I left saying she’d see me again in a couple of months with either a pick axe, or a bunch of flowers to thank her. She phoned a wk after seeing her to see how I was getting on. I see her again in September.
That all sounds really good! May I ask who the consultant is and where she practices? She sounds great!
I've sent you a private message as I don't know if it's appropriate to publicly name Consultants, although she is fantastic! So I've messaged you her name and which hospital she practices from. Hope that helps.
That’s great news, I’m really pleased for you
Wow. That sounds fantastic. Keep it up !
Can you also tell me her name and where she practices too ... so pleased for you x
Oh that sounds amazing. I hate the coughing whenever I eat ice cream. I don’t feel the Fexofenadine or montelukast do anything but it’s so lovely to hear of a consultant being so proactive. Please could you pm me her details too
Yes, will do.x
