Reclaiming my life. Where the process began.
The next day they tried to perform a
VATS
pleurodesis but the pleura was badly loculated and the procedure aborted. My surgeon reported that she found necrotic cancer cell in my pleura.

Newly diagnosed
I have recently undergone a lung biopsy and
VATS
Procedure to rule out any carcinoma of the lung as my lungs have widespread nodularity. They have now confirmed it is sarcoid and not cancer so hugely relieved at this. It has been a long 6 months to get a diagnosis with many scans and procedures.

I had a full right lung lobectomy in 2007
In November I had my right lu g removed via
VATS
surgery at NYU in New York. I was fully capable of doing everything I did before and am now heading into year 10 of being cancer free. If you have a great thoracic surgeon you should be fine.

As of now my pulmonary doc and I have agreed to not do the
vats
biopsy at least for now. He wants to see how I react to a high dose of Prednisone and to completely avoid cigarette smoke.. If I do have pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis complete avoidance of specifically cigarette smoke is key.

Breathing after vats
I I had
vats
procedure done with talc on both lungs. I was in hospital for twelve days, two of which where in Icu . My chest is still really crackly and I keep coughing up phlegm. I'm guessing this is normal but I start to panic when I can't get my breath and then it makes breathing worse.

"I always knew running would be dangerous at your age..." and other helpful advice to the IC...
Your social life consists of back-to-back box sets, football on the TV, football on a Saturday but strictly as a spectator [which involves
vats
of beer, a couple of greasy burgers and a pie at half time].

VATS pleurodesis
The consultant has mentioned
vats
pleurodesis, any advice? It sounds scary stuff, is it permanent? Is it done under general or local? I wish they would just remove the lung. I was hoping crizitonib would clear up the fluid situation?

Do you want your oncologist to be honest?
I was told after a
VATS
surgery that I was inoperable but if I had a gene mutation I could take an oral targeted therapy that would give me more time.

Pneumonia followed by empyema. please help.
They inserted a chest drain which removed 1.5 litres but not enough so I had to have
VATS
(video assisted thoracic surgery) to remove the fluid and pus and thick peel that had formed.

Catamenial pneumothorax
I have had 2 rounds of
VATS
pleurodesis and have been put on zoladex for the last 7 months. Has anyone else been on this treatment? Is so for how long? And what happened when you came off it? Thanks in advance!

Left Upper VATS Lobectomy Surgery 10/29
My Father is going in for this procedure, (stage I lung cancer) and i was hoping to get some inside information on some things we could do for him at home that will make his recovery easier. Should we get adjustable Mattress, or a self lifting recliner for him? what can we expect?? thanks

Scared of lobectomy next week
After spending a few minutes with a surgeon, he highly recommended I have it removed via
vats
and have a RUL this upcoming Monday. This has been over a 6 month time frame and I am petrified. I just turned 50 and single mother to an 8 year old daughter.

Getting ready for my annual mud bath (at Glastonbury), whether I need it or not!
I served vast
vats
of cheesy wosits as having found they are gluten free I felt an urge to purchase 50 large packets....people really fell over themselves to stuff them in, they are a very retro snack, or anti canape as I now call them.

VATS Lobectomy looming....
It could be cancelled as emergency cancer patients get priority for
VATS
lobectomies (and rightly so). My valve procedure only happened on the 3rd go because of bed shortages.

Thomas Was My Cousin...Five Hundred Years Ago

Numbness?
I had a
VATS
bullaectomy and a pleurectomy and I have found that ever since then the left side of my chest and sometimes my arm is numb also. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and for how long? My surgeon said its normal but didn't say much else.
