My Father is going in for this procedure, (stage I lung cancer) and i was hoping to get some inside information on some things we could do for him at home that will make his recovery easier. Should we get adjustable Mattress, or a self lifting recliner for him? what can we expect??

thanks

Hi charmed, firstly all the best for ur dads operation and cancer treatment, the other bit I can't help, I suppose any equipment will always be of help to him, a lot depends on his age, fitness, other conditions he may have , like arthritis ( just for example ) best bet is talk to the hospital regarding home after care, they can advise u better, or someone on here might be able to help too. Take care xx Sonia xx

See if you can talk to an occupational therapist, Charmed. They often supply equipment to help patients. Also there may be physiotherapists attached to the ward your father will be on who could help.

Another thought: Macmillan may be able to advise. Plus the BLF have a helpline, click on the red balloon at top of page for their number.

Sending good luck for the op to your father.

Best wishes to you & your Dad. I hope everything goes well for him in hospital.

I am sure there will be a physiotherapist who will advise your Dad on exercises to do while he is in hospital & after his discharge.

He will also be asked if he has help at home & if he needs home carers to visit.

Occupational health nurses will speak to him about aids to assist in the home both for his comfort & ease of managing to do things.

All these services are, or should be, available to him.

Thinking of you both 🌸
