Hi all. I am new to this site. I have been diabetic for more years than I care to admit. Never ask a lady her age or how long she has had diabetes if she is an oldie. Lol. I am using Novorapid and Lantus to "control" the beast but it still surprises me sometimes and I still find myself with questions

Reclaiming my life. Where the process began.
October 2010 I had a severe bout with shortness of breath. I went to the ER where I was dx with advanced lung cancer. CT, PET and biopsy confirmed that it was stage 4 adenocarcinoma with mets to rt lung and liver. I had lost 50 lbs but I had been on a diet for a year and that did not seem excessive

Vats Ablation, my story.
I have been reading with interest various experiences with various treatments for (believe it or not) various complaints. With all these variables on offer I noticed my personal experience is different again. My History: I had palpitations' when I was 18 after drinking excessively, these went not to

Result of VATS biopsy
I went to see the surgeon today, who did lung biopsy nearly 3 weeks ago. I have IPF. That's all I know until I see the respiratory consultant again, who referred me for the biopsy. She only referred me because we kicked up a fuss about nothing being done to get me a definative diagnosis, after

Five-a-side football and the "diabetic effect".
I am new to this forum. I am a 53 year old type 1 diabetic on a daily insulin dose of 15 lantus plus novo rapid, three times. I also take eltroxin tablets. Love to play 5-a-side football, but have been dogged all my life with the hyperglycaemic effect - the reaction of glucagon in the system once

Severe acid reflux
I have severe acid reflux or gerd. I have taken everything you can imagine, ppi, zantac, tums, if it's for heartburn I have tried it. The doctors even removed my gallbladder even though I knew it wasn't the issue but I was desperate for relief. I vomit at least once a week if not more, my throat hurts

Newly diagnosed
Hi I have recently been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis although I believe it started 4 years ago and was treated mistakenly for adult onset Asthma. I have recently undergone a lung biopsy and VATS Procedure to rule out any carcinoma of the lung as my lungs have widespread nodularity. They have now confirmed

I had a full right lung lobectomy in 2007
I was DX with stage 3a NSCLC in October 2007. In November I had my right lu g removed via VATS surgery at NYU in New York. I was fully capable of doing everything I did before and am now heading into year 10 of being cancer free. If you have a great thoracic surgeon you should be fine. I will say that

Thank you to everyone for your responses. As of now my pulmonary doc and I have agreed to not do the vats biopsy at least for now. He wants to see how I react to a high dose of Prednisone and to completely avoid cigarette smoke.. If I do have pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis complete avoidance

"I always knew running would be dangerous at your age..." and other helpful advice to the IC...
Why do people who have never done any exercise feel the need to be smug now I am on the IC? "Well, that's running for you, it ruins the joints" "All that impact straight onto the joint? Not a good idea at your age" "Cycling's a far better bet, or have you tried swimming?" My reply: "No
