Worrying mother in a strange city learning to take care of her single kidney diebetic daughter
My twenty seven year old daughter was diagnosed diebetic two years ago then discovered with only one kidney and that one kidney is deteriorating. The doctor is talking about dialysis and transplant. I am so sad seeing my child so young but had to needle herself and take pills by handful. After graduation

Time management skills during dialysis
Hello there, I am in search of better ways to manage my CKD. Doing peritoneal dialysis three time a week at nighttime. How do you keep up with your demands and schedule? What do you find works the best for you while struggling with ESRD? Anyone loves to journal this stage of our lives?

Hello, I'm a 52 year old female in Greece, 1 year on Dialysis now, after a journey of failed fistula creation attempts and finally a graft placement due to very thin veins. Started dialysis last July after an 18 year diet struggle to keep function of the one kidney I have. (the other one was lost for

Has anyone had to deal with the issue of stop taking the drug, Lithium, to delay dialysis or decided to stay on Lithium until her kidneys were destroyed, but felt a little better mentally in other ways? Lithium was a drug that helped me tremendously in my life, but in the end is destroying my kidneys

A Summer Day on Manual PD
Drain overnight exchange at 7am and immediately start the day exchange. Eat breakfast (replenish the protein loss with egg white bagel and protein bars). Start preparing and packing for day out. Drain at 10am and start driving to the beach. Get to beach at 1pm. Enjoy a nice grilled hamburger with fries

Daughter to father transplant
Hi, I want to donate to my father who is a ESRD patient, not yet on dialysis. He is averse to this unable to bear the idea of accepting a kidney from his own daughter. If any of you have been in this situation and have successfully managed to effect a change in mind of your parent, please help me out

I've been on hemo dialysis 5 years (going on 6). I'm on my 2nd graft. I've had my parathyroid removed due to calcium issues. Now my hands tingle & feel like they are going to sleep when I hold a pen or do something with small items (stirring, typing, holding the remote, knitting etc) Has anyone else

Life update
Hello all! A lot of you have been following my journey through dialysis and recently transplant, and I really appreciate all of the support that you've given! I celebrated 6 months post transplant on 7/8/19, and after lowering my tac to 6mg daily (3 pills 2×/day), switching from Metoprolol to Losartan

Living with stage 5 ckd without dialysis
Hi I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease in 2007. Since then, I have had no transplant and no dialysis. I am still going strong. My GFR is 12. i am still realtively young (57). As far as I can find, no one has heard of a case like mine. I should not be alive. I was wondering if anyone had some

Help with Kt/V dropping
I have been experiencing lowering numbers in my Kt/V labs, and my Renal Nurse doesn't have any specific ideas on how to elevate it again. Here's what has occurred: In August, 2018, my Kt/V was 3.93 (2.0 and higher is the target). In November, 2018, it went down to 1.87. In Feb 2019, it was back up

Colon Cancer Warning
Hi everyone. I wanted to give a quick reminder on the importance of getting your scheduled check ups and colonoscopies after your bowel diseases go into remission. My 65 year old father had a deadly bout with ulcerative colitis 30 years ago. He beat it and has been the picture of health for the most

Sister's dialysis treatment
HI--I am a 59 year old male, I have been going with my sister to dialysis that she has been resistant to, but seems to be more willing to do lately. The resistance took forms of the care facility she is at requiring her to go to the hospital after 3 refusals. Yesterday went somewhat better; they had

Beginning Dialysis
Hi, Call me Sarah. Have any of you found that in-center dialysis is all around more feasible than periodialysis at home. I found the home process too difficult and we don't have the space for the equipment. Anyone find a very good center with good techs in Gaithersburg or Germantown Maryland?
