Dad's Tracheostomy was leaking he now back under sedation
having video called him this after he was aware and awake but very uncomfortable and was trying to explain something. The doc called later to say they had to put him back to sleep and take the trach out and go back on ventilator as it was leaking and will investigate and try to redo it in 2 days time

No thyroid
My thyroid was removed in 2018 not due to cancer but as a side effect of complications following an operation to remove a benign frontal lobe brain tumour and removal of
tracheostomy
. Both ops seem to result in personality changes, depression and impulsivity. Has anyone else heard this

Things took a bad turn
Dad had been in ICU for about 56 days on a ventilator due to Covid, he was finally transferred to rehab with a tracheotomy. He was still on dialysis but kidneys were just starting to kick in. He was awake, alert but couldn’t speak yet. Had minimal muscle movement, was using his right hand however his

Where do we go while we're unconscious on a ventilator? My experience of being on a ventilator in ICU, Royal Brompton Hospital UK.
This completely blew my mind, I could not speak because I had had a
tracheostomy

Going outside really stresses me out
I have this fear of going outside, out of the safety of my apartment. I feel as if I am going to be attacked or like eyes are penetrating me and looking for a way to hurt me. I live in a place very different from that in which I've ever lived, very backward (in Idaho, like about 60 years behind the times

Distressed
We opted not to do that so they are looking into doing a
tracheostomy
. They also said no doc would probably perform it because mom is high risk Praying for a miracle so mom comes home.

MIRICLE FOR MOM
They need permission to do a put
tracheostomy
tube. She still has blood in her brain but is not bleeding. They're putting a new Catheter because they need to give her dialysis again. They had took off the other one to give her body rest but it's time to give her dialysis again.

Co-vid 19 - third week in ICU for Mum
Last week she seemed to be making some progress on being weaned from the ventilation and sedation, but the doctors now seems to think they will not be able to wean any further without a
tracheostomy
.

Tracheostomy questions/experience
Can you have a
tracheostomy
if you’re on blood thinners? At what stage of intubation is it done? How did you cope with it? Did your voice come back to normal?

Mum, COVID-19 and in ICU (4 weeks).
They fitted a
tracheostomy
last week (Week 4) and things started to look like they were going in the right direction - she got down to 35% oxygen at one point and her Doctor seemed confident.

Like an anvil hanging over my head by a cartoon thread
Does anyone else have the experience of an anvil hanging by a cartoon thread (with strands popping here and there) almost all of the time? I feel as if there is one and I can remember it being there since I was an infant. I went through a tracheotomy at 9 months and was barely revived. This has colored

Mom in ICU for 3 weeks and won’t wake up after sedation
I’m 23 and my mother is 53, she was admitted when we got a call that her kidneys were failing and there they tested her positive for coronavirus. She’s been admitted for 3 weeks. They said her lungs got better and she won’t need the vent. After taking her off of the sedation medication on the 2nd week

Mom Covid Trach but still not awake
My mom still isn’t waking up yet. They’re going to run some more tests on her brain to see what’s going on. From those results the next discussion will be a tracheotomy? Since they can’t take her off the ventilator since she cannot wake up or follow commands. Is it cruel to put her through a trach? Are

ICU with covid19 since April 16th
I’m so glad to have found this page. It’s given me massive relief in a way to find positivity from others going through the same struggles. The doctors and nurses have been amazing but there are some questions that remain unanswered so I thought I would ask here. My sister is only 22 and other than having

Asperger's with PTSD and MDD, etc.
I'm new here. I have PTSD from a tracheotomy at 9 months. I was a gentle child until then but became a demon. Very difficult childhood, especially in school. I'm a musician by calling and a retired software engineer.

Post Tracheostomy and intubation
She was in hospital for a further two weeks as she had a
tracheostomy
in to help her wake with ease from the induced coma. She has now been out of hospital for 3 weeks and her breathing is very loud and she struggles to move from the couch to the toilet etc.

Swallowing difficulties after long stay in ICU including incubation and tracheostomy
Which answers my own question “why are they wanting to fit a PEG when its just been a week and a bit since his
tracheostomy
was removed?” I personally believe they want the bed.
