FINALLY had my 1st Neurologist appointment today…..
Oh and also he gave me a prescription for
Topamax
which is used for migraines & seizures. Um I haven’t even been tested for seizures yet. Don’t feel comfortable about that.

A tooth with a life of it's own!
Hi, all. I wrote in several months ago about a painful tooth. My dentist couldn't find anything wrong with it. He finally referred me to an endodontist, and he did a root canal. Found several issues. Would have been nice if that had been the end of it, but no! The pain would not go away, and I

Fosamax
Been on Fosamax for almost 5 yrs with no problems. Now I have a problem. Need tooth extraction and need to stay off Fosamax. I’m getting different opinions as to how long to stay off. Endocrinologist says 3-4 weeks is enough time. Oral surgeon and others say 3-4 months pre and post surgery. Has anyone

Getting off Prolia
Hi all. My first time here, typing that is. I’ve read a lot. Thank you for your stories. Now for mine. (I’m 67 years old and reasonably fit) I sustained a compression fracture of L2 back in August of 21 while stupidly helping to carry a very heavy item up a flight of steps while walking backwards and

Anyone done Fosamax and then tried Boniva?
My B/C B/S insurance is making me try those in that order. So happy - just took my last 5 mg fosamax left in my bottle, it gives me a stomachs ache every time. Boniva only comes in a 30 day in one pill supply. I am scared of taking that kind of dose. I can try actonel but I would have to pay for

Mum on prolia 6 years, was going ok. Then over the past 3 years has had 3 teeth extracted. Upper mandible
Does the
maxillofacial surgeon
speak up if they thought it was early stage of ONJ, or do I have to ask him somehow? Or does she see her
endo
and discuss? Or can the
GP
reappraise? Mum got talked into 6 years ago, it after first turning it down for a couple of years. I wish she never

just trying fosamax
I have been convinced by 4 doctors and 2 pharmacists that bisphosphonates at least keeps you from getting worse though maybe it doesn’t make you improved. I was given 7 total fosamax tablets and I take 5 mgs per day for now which equals 35 mgs per week which is the lowest dose. I can break the 10

supplements and medicine
For now I take a combination of supplements and medicine for severe osteoporosis and I understand many here do not have as bad numbers as I do so many do not take medicine. I take supplements and strontium citrate just 250 mgs per day on days that I don’t take fosamax . I am trying to take fosamax.

Aps and topamax?
Does anyone have any experience with
topamax
inducing aps? I have asked my Dr's and no one seems to think anything of it.

Fosamax??
Is it true that Fosamax only strengthens the outside of the bone and that the core of the bone still continues to weaken? Thats why taking Fosamax is not good to take long term because it will cause femur fx!

First day Fosamax
Well, I had to try this for the insurance and dr to see what would happen. I only allowed the smallest dose which is 10 mgs per day. I was fine the first 15 minutes and then started getting very bad cramping. I thought oh no . . But then the cramping started to decrease. And seems to be getting better

fosamax/strength training
Hello, I think I posted somewhere else as well but maybe incorrectly. I was at -2.7 a year ago. since then I started once/week fosamax (only bloating as a side effect) and began strength training 3 months ago. my Dexascan last week showed -2.3. Unsure if its was due to the fosamax, the strength training

I have osteoporosis and I took Fosamax for a while and then lost 6 teeth! I stopped taking it a while ago, but my back is giving me grief now. I am taking calcium and Vitamin D, but I need to find out whether there are any alternatives to alendronic acid.

Prolia instead of Fosamax
I'm a GCA patient since AUG 2022, have gone from 60 mg PRED per day to 20 MG PRED per day at present. My Rheumy put me on Fosamax 3 weeks ago and I have not tolerated it very well. The runs, nausea, and my blurry eyes have gotten even worse. He told me to stop the Fosamax and instead wants me to

Has anyone had positive results, low side effects with Foxamax?
I have a history of parathyroid tumor...10 years missed by doctors, several doctors! Severe osteoporosis age 50...after tumor was removed, got back to osteopenia, until a few months ago! So I've had severe damage to my spine, SI joints, wrists/hands, nerves in legs, two tibia transfers so far, and

Fosamax (Alendronate) Question
Hi again, I'm a GCA patient that was diagnosed in AUG 2022, started at 60 mg PRED and finally down to 20 MG after 7 months. I was a previous PMR patient about 8 years ago as well, having taken about 6 years to decrease the PRED to zero. At my most recent rheumy visit, he suggested that I start taking
