supplements and medicine

For now I take a combination of supplements and medicine for severe osteoporosis and I understand many here do not have as bad numbers as I do so many do not take medicine.

I take supplements and strontium citrate just 250 mgs per day on days that I don’t take fosamax . I am trying to take fosamax. The protocol is 35 mgs or 70 per week.

I get bad stomach aches from the medicine so I got the daily 10 mgs only. I take what I can deal with which is 5 mgs. It also makes me anxious and depressed which is a side effect that is not discussed.

I agree with you, I had a lot of side effects from alendronic acid that I didn’t expect - I half expected gut problems which I didn’t have but I also felt very, very depressed. You could say I was a shadow of my former self. When I stopped taking it after four months I went back to normal. So no, you don’t hear many people mentioning feeling anxious and depressed. Hopefully you can get things sorted out soon.

I have a total of 7 tablets and I am just taking 5 mgs per day when I can to kind of do something for my bones bc my endocrinologist believes the medicines are the only thing that works and not exercise and not supplements. I am not going to purchase fosamax again and will insist on trying another medicine.

I’ve been off Prolia since Covid hit in 2020. Luckily my regular food choices and Black Cohosh along with Horsetail were added to “break away” from Prolia without another toxic med. I’m a foodie and get Calcium from TFFarm’s Yogurt everyday. Stay strong, I’m with you too!

May I ask how long you were on Prolia? I want to jump off the Prolia train myself but as you probably know, the doctors all say it's too dangerous to do so. I take supplements too but have not tried black cohosh.

I started in 2016 and blew up like a mushroom bodily, more pain in the fractured spine. But they scared me into staying on it in fear of more fractures. Then my infusions were at a local hospital and thank the lord, not available due to COVID-19. My lifestyle was in place, my diet was in place. I added Black Cohosh to balance my hormones and Horsetail as an herb to make it all work for ME! We are all unique in our chemistry so doing my own research for all my health conditions gave me seven years fracture free ( 4 miserably on Orolia and three doing just great ). Thanks for listening to your heart!
