Anyone Taking Fosamax Now?

I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis and GP wants me to take Fosamx. Is there anyone here in this group that is taking it and if so can you tell me your experience with it?

Hey, Greenrivers.

I was on Fosamax for a year or so, with no issues at all. (I'm also pretty fit, with no history of digestive problems, which I believe makes a difference.) I'm not taking it now because I'm scheduled for a dental implant, and my doctor agreed that going off for 6 months would be the safest.

I'd say try it, if that's what your doctor recommends. You can always drop it if it doesn't work for you.

Thank you. I am on my first week with it and I did/do have acid reflux issues for years, but I followed the directions and didn't seem to have any issues with the pill.

I have been on Fosamax generic for 4 1/2 years with no side effects. I'll be taking a drug holiday.

I took it for 3 months and developed a rash and itch on my chest snd back and had to discontinue. I take vitamins and do weight bearing exercises now. Good luck.
