My rheumatologist is treating the ra with
tocilizumab
(roactmera) with the thinking that if he treats the ra, the rv will take care of itself. The other problem with the rv I have is that it affects my bowel and causes diverticular type problem.

Anyone else on tocilizumab?
Hi, I've just started on
tocilizumab
I wondered how others have found this drug and how long it took to work?

Thanks to all but I am still not sure...
At the moment my RA is awaiting the start date of
tocilizumab
and as it is in chronic stage both my RA and me can't wait. I have RA in nearly every joint and it seems a daily occurance for me to discover it starting in different places.

Your support really helped!
She told me that the Rituximab should have worked by now as I am seronegative, and that there was no point perservering with it and that she would move me on to another infusion called
Tocilizumab
. This is a monthly infusion, but I don't mind that if it works!

Possible new option for CNS lupus, lupus nephritis, and lupus polyarthritis
In some RA patients,
tocilizumab
was so effective that the patients eventually were symptom-free and able to stay that way without any kind of drug therapy. Let's hope
tocilizumab
offers the same relief to at least a subset of lupus patients.

Hi all, am due to have my first
Tocilizumab
infusion tomorrow (wednesday), as the Humira injections aren't working anymore and my bone density test was bad so they took me off the steroids which I have taken for 5 years and which have obviously been masking the severity of the disease.

Have had 2g of steroid infusions and will be restarting my treatment (
tocilizumab
) for rheumatoid arthritis on 9 November. Am taking daily prednisolone between 10 and 20 mg and tramadol for pain at night (it makes me sleepy so cannot take whilst at work/driving).

I have been told the next drug they will try will be
Tocilizumab
but after reading about the drugs on the internet i came across one called ABATACEPT that is supposed to be as effective as the others but with a lot less side effects but no one has mentioned this one to me.

At the rheumies conference.
There was news of research taking place into the use of new drugs, particularly
tocilizumab
(an immune suppresant) and lodotril (which is a slow release version of prednisolone). Also a research project based at Keele University looking into how PMR and GCA are managed by GPs in primary practice.
