Anyone been turned down for tocilizumab because they cannot take mxt with it?
I had a call today to say that it was hard to get funding for me as I don't take mxt. I was on rituximab before but it did not help at all with swollen joints, so I have been taken off it. I am at present just on celebrex and have been since March.

New treatment - tocilizumab
I'm going to be started on
tocilizumab
as soon as they have secured funding. Does anyone on here have experience of this treatment for TAK or any kind of Vasculitis? Many thanks

IT'S HAPPENED - REMISSION WITH TOCILIZUMAB - OFFICIAL
That's when the hand of fortune took over and the chance to have
Tocilizumab
as part of a trial to monitor methotrexate withdrawal. I felt the effects inside two weeks, incredibly quick as these things usually take time.

RoActemra (generic Tocilizumab)
For me
Tocilizumab
is a miracle come true. In just under a month there is no trace of my RA except maybe a bit of left over flare damage which is not a problem. My inflammation markers ESR and CRP are 2 and < 1 respectively. I have very little pain, no stiffness and no swelling.

THE BIG FIGHT (Round 2 of the Tocilizumab Trial middleweight contest cont.)
.....13th Sept It would seem that Inflammatory Jack has developed new tactics to slow down the Cytokine Kid at the beginning of round 2 - going low for feet, ankles, knees and legs more now in a bit to curtail his outdoor activities. There's no doubt the Kid looks like he needs the magic stool after

THE BIG FIGHT CYTOKINE KID (TOC H) v INFLAMMATORY JACK Round 2 cont....
Looks like they'll be ordering the next (3rd) batch of the Kids wonder supplement
TOCILIZUMAB
(RoActemra) if it carries on being this effective and even better they might taper down the MTX which was the trial they signed up for as a precondition to the big fight.

ROUND 2 THE BIG FIGHT.
The
Tocilizumab
drip is disconnected and The Cytokine Kid charges straight to the centre of the ring on the offensive. How will Inflammatory Jack deal with this new found aggression. He is not one to back pedal. To be continued.....

Is it me?
I have been on numerous RA regimes, Methotrexate 25mg weekly at the moment and I am waiting to start
tocilizumab
and there is great hope that this will be the drug for me however as we know it could take months for it to be effective.

Tocilizumab anyone? Been told that they're trying to arrange this next.
Has anyone used it or know much info? Just got A phone call telling me to come in for bloods by the rheumy nurse so they have all the precautionary measures as my rheumatologist is putting things I to place to get access to this drug. Wasn't really aware he was going to consider an infusion so soon but

The Shrinking Woman
Rheumy gave me a nice shot of steroids before I left on 29th april and a leaflet for
Tocilizumab

Query
My rheumatologist is treating the ra with
tocilizumab
(roactmera) with the thinking that if he treats the ra, the rv will take care of itself. The other problem with the rv I have is that it affects my bowel and causes diverticular type problem.

Thanks to all but I am still not sure...
At the moment my RA is awaiting the start date of
tocilizumab
and as it is in chronic stage both my RA and me can't wait. I have RA in nearly every joint and it seems a daily occurance for me to discover it starting in different places.
