My rheumy is giving me a choice of tocilizumab or abatacept. Just wondered what everyone's views of them are. Xx

Tocilizumab or abatacept
Juju, I am weaning off Tocilizamub at the minute and going on Abatacept in June. I started Tocilizamub in November after being taken off Enbrel. It might work for you as I know others that were getting the infusion the same time I was told me they had been on it for years.
My first infusion went well and I did feel a slight improvement for a month or six weeks and the suddenly I got the pain back. It was really sudden, like a switch turning off. It was never the same after that. I have had to go back on Tramadol too. So my doc has decided to stop that drug and I am going on Abatacept at the end of June.
I have tried to get more information in line about it but can't find anything other than that is new and is still in trials in other parts of the world but has been licences here I Ireland only recently. Do you know anything about it?
For both out sakes I hope you have a better experience with Tocilizamub than I had and again I want to say that a lot of sufferers had a great response from it. I have a terrible history of rejection when it comes to diaboligials as I call them!!! I started on Humira, had a reaction, then on to Enbrel, had a reaction so they tried to Tocilizamub, it didn't t work and next Abatacept......... Something os bound to work along the line. I don't know what will happen to me if I can't stay on it!!! I think they will just take me into a field and shoot me.....put me out of my misery like some poor old animal!!!!!
Please get back and let me know how you get on I really do want to know how you get on as you are the first to mention Abatacept besides myself. All the best. X

Hi, I had tox for about a year, it worked for about 6 months and it was great.. then the pain and fatigue and discomfort of joints returned as before. I am about to start of abatacept.. so here's hoping! Tried Rutoximab and had a dreadful effect on me.. felt worse than ever, but pretty sure that was unusual and just me!
