Hi,all I have just received the go ahead to start teriparatide middle of January, I'm still very apprehensive and not looking forward to the injections 🙄 I'm actually feeling OK at moment no fractures since last year, I'm hoping the treatment keeps it that way.I had no side effects with AA so am praying I'll be the same with this......watch this space.

don’t worry about the injections they are dead easy. I do know you need to be off bisphosphonates for a few months before teriparatide.

Thankyou so much for your reply, I'm squeamish rather than scared, daft really.....I've been off AA since May after 5 years,it didn't make any difference to my scores but I'm feeling quite well at the moment so here's hoping!!!

Hi I'm 1 month into taking teriparatide. Only thing I did was change the injection time to about 1 hour before I went to bed. I have not really noticed any real side effects only thing I noticed is the injection really stings somtime but my sister said it may be I do the injection to soon after cleaning skin. Good luck

Thankyou for your reply, do you use tummy or thigh?

I start on right tummy then left tummy then left leg then right leg then round again. You have to be around 2 inches away from belly button and look out for small veins. You will probably get a nurse who comes to you to go through everything so try not panic they are very helpful. Good luck any more questions just ask x

I’ve just finished 2 year course with no side effects other than slight weight gain. Best wishes

How long were you on AA and why do you need to start another form of meds?

Hi, I was on AA for 5 years, my scores stayed the same -4.5 spine - 3.5 hip I also had another 2 compression fractures and 2 possible rib fractures, so after seeing a rheumatology doc she recommended me for teraparatide, really wasn't sure about it but am quite afraid of the future otherwise.

Hi I’ve just finished teripartide and didn’t have any side effects, I use to give it in my tummy and alternate with my thighs. My bones improved by 17.5%. I’m now on yearly infusions for the next 3 years to maintain my improvement. Hope all goes well for you

OMG it's so nice to get some positive feedback, I was driving myself mad reading all the negative stuff, I'm a really positive person but it was all a bit scary, sadly it is what it is and we can't change our outcome ,but I'm optimistic, hope you stay well ....thankyou.

I was due to start this month but been advised not to due to a shortage. Hopefully end of January but also nervous. Waiting to hear further.

Shortage doesn't sound right! Still enjoy your Christmas and start fresh in the new year,we can only give it a try,if we have any problems we go back to the drawing board......onwards and upwards,....good luck.

Thank you. I am in Northern Ireland so shortage and lack of delivery are possible. Good luck.
