Mastectomy on avastin
Hi guys, I am brca 1 and have decided to have a bilateral mastectomy as prevention to ever getting breast cancer. I am on avastin only after my chemo for oc stage 3c. I have just read that while on avastin the healing process takes longer. It's made me wonder if they will go ahead with this operation

Metastatic Breast Cancer Survivor
I am new to this group. Here it goes. I had a lumpectomy and then 3 weeks later had a right mastectomy with no lymph node involvement in 1994. At that time I did have reconstruction, which was painful. At that time I thought I will be good if it doesn't go into my left breast. It never has although

Heartburn type pains?
Hi all, I had a laparoscopic cystectomy on Friday to remove an endometrioma on my left ovary. I dont have a lot of pain in my stomach area, more achey but my chest feels like I have heartburn. I assume it's still the gas, as I do occasionally have shoulder tip pain. I'm trying to get out each day for

Hi
Hi All, Diagnosed with late on set asthma at 60. Prior to this had been told my upper respiratory congestion was due to post nasal drip. But things got worse, climbing hills, any rapid change of pace etc. I am a survivor of breast cancer in my 40s, when I had lots of chemo and radio therapy to left side

Would you have a vasectomy?
There's a new article on the Men's Health Forum site today about post-vasectomy pain: https://www.menshealthforum.org.uk/vasectomy-kick-balls What’s your experience of vasectomy? Have you had one? Are you considering it? Would you never do it?

Hi I'm new to this group from KS
I was originally diagnosed with Stage 2B in August of 2011, I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction surgery, followed by Chemo, radiation and hormone therapy. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 when it moved to my bones. I'm still Estrogen Positive and have gone through all the oral meds for hormone

I am new to MBC
I am a 20 year survivor of DCIS stage 0 (1996). I had a total radical mastectomy and 19 lymph nodes removed. I had a recurrence of breast cancer in March 2016 (8 mos. ago) and was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with mets to the bones. My attitude is great and my prognosis is good.

Getting Naked with Strangers after a Mastectomy
Thanks for all of the positive feedback about the articles I've posted so far. Here's another, about how I was able to get naked with strangers again (in a Korean spa...one of my fave indulgences before breast cancer). The answer: with a little help from my friends. It was first published in Ravishly

My story of Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer
From a helpline peer: My journey started back in 2004, when I was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. It had spread to 22 lymph nodes. I just couldn’t believe it because I was going annually for my mammogram. I had a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. And I was on hormone therapy for about

Going Flat: Whether To Reconstruct or Not
Some women are choosing to defy medical advice and social convention after mastectomies, saying they would rather live without breasts than undergo more surgery. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/well/live/going-flat-after-breast-cancer.html?smid=nytcore-ipad-share&smprod=nytcore-ipad

Tattoo Me
Here's another one of my BC articles, this one about why I decided to tattoo my mastectomy scar instead of getting an implant. It was first published on Better After 50, then picked up by Ravishly. http://betterafter50.com/2015/01/why-i-decided-to-tattoo-my-breast-cancer-scar/

BRCA diagnosis questions
Hi. I'm BRCA1positive and had a triple negative diagnosis. 10+ years later, after chemo, a bi-lateral mastectomy and an oopherctomy I'm fortunately doing fine. I was 46 at time of diagnosis. If I can help you, shoot me an email.

Being HER2+ Strengthened My Faith
In 2013, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with triple-positive Stage 1 breast cancer. Only a year and a half later in 2015, I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer, Stage 2B. Here I was, 37 years old, being told, “Mrs. Riley, unfortunately, your breast cancer has reoccurred in the same area.” Hearing
