I am a 20 year survivor of DCIS stage 0 (1996). I had a total radical mastectomy and 19 lymph nodes removed. I had a recurrence of breast cancer in March 2016 (8 mos. ago) and was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with mets to the bones. My attitude is great and my prognosis is good.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me..I. Found out I was stage 4 from hip pain, I have a hip fracture as a result of this. Pet scan showed two spots in hip. A 3.4 CM & 9MM. I'm on Ibrance and Faslodex . I'm scared but I trying to stay positive and hoping to see good results at my next scan. I'm glad I found this site with others who have MBC..
Hi. I actually had no pain...found it when I had gone to the breast surgeon for a consult on the other breast (I have a cyst that I wanted removed). I went to the appt. with a severe case of strep throat and I had a swollen lymph node under my arm. The Dr. thought it was due to the strep fighting the throat infection. 10 days later it got bigger. 9 test in 10 days. A whirlwind. I am also glad I found this site.
Hi I am taking Black Cohosh for another bout of menopause, I am taking a multi vitamin, I am taking magnesium, Vitamin D, COQ 10. I am treating at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia. These were all recommended by the nutritionist.
Hi my new friends. I am a school iibrarian/ teacher and returning to work after 8 months. I teach in a Pre-k-5 school. I am anticipating returning to work after Thanksgiving. My question is: I know there will be lots of hugs from ALL of my students. As one who does have a compromised immune system are there any words that I can use to let my students know that I want their affection but no touching. The adults will understand.
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well What type of treatment are you on? I will see if I know of anyone who is doing the same type of treatment. Maybe the best thing to do is think about working part time, working a few days at work or at home until you feel better Talk to your supervisor and let him/her what is going on
I am a teacher (teaching librarian) in a k-5 school. Right now I am working mornings. I am on chemo every 2 weeks and will be off when I am on chemo. My district is working with me as I have been employed there for almost 17 years. I am still getting used to the fact that this is now my new normal. My colleagues (friends) are amazing as is my principal and superintendent. I am very lucky.
