Hi. I'm BRCA1positive and had a triple negative diagnosis. 10+ years later, after chemo, a bi-lateral mastectomy and an oopherctomy I'm fortunately doing fine. I was 46 at time of diagnosis. If I can help you, shoot me an email.

BRCA diagnosis questions
Welcome, Margok
Besides what you mentioned you've done have you done any alternative therapies, changed diet- etc.
That's a great question. No alternative therapies. I looked into this but there wasn't anything that seemed like it would make a difference after I was cancer free. I do now exercise more aggressively, try to eat organic, raw food (a little fish too but no meat or chicken) and continually work to keep my stress down which of course is always a challenge as life has curve balls. I think positive attitude has some influence too.
I just wanted to let people know that there is a new type of drug for Brca + breast cancer in clinical trials. They are called parp inhibitors and are being looked at for women with Brca positive metastatic breast cancer. Two parp inhibitors are olaparib and talazaporib. Olabparib has already been approved for ovarian cancer. It is possible that these drugs could work for non Brca triple negative breast cancer. We will probably start getting news on these phase lll trials sometime next year.
Hi margok,
Though this post of yours 1 year old , I am still knocking you. Not sure if you still check this site or not. I am 42 years old and my diagnosis same like you. I am half way through preventative treatment. How long after your mastectomy you did oophorectomy ? Was it open or laproscopic surgery? After finishing all treatment how s been your check up schedule? I mean how doctors check if everything normal ?
Your reply would be very much appreciated .
