I was put on statins about 6 months ago. Around the same time my legs started to feel heavy. Now they are heavy all the time. It is a horrible feeling at top of my thighs. Even feel heavy back passage. After bowel movement. So not sure if its my IBS or the statins? I'm thinking of stopping the statins but can't see my doctor till 6th February and would like to be OK for family get together before that. I alsoissed the last one cos of horrible heavy feeling legs. Can't even walk up the stairs now

Statins

statins can give muscle ache. Just reduce dose ie every other day until you see doctor. Ask for a different statin, there are many.
Statins are notorious for muscle aches and gut problems, try taking half the dose until you can see the doctor. What statin and strength are you taking?
I'm taking Atorvastatin 20mg. I'm told this is a more gentle statin and most people are started on20mg. I didn't take it yesterday and I'm feeling YUK today's but probably my fault Went a bit mad on crisps. Too soon to tell anyway.
I had terrible body aches and fatigue with Atorvastatin so went on to Pravastatin 20mg, this was slightly better but I have now reduced to 10mg (half the dose) to ease the aches. My GP is ok with this since it's the first dose that really makes the difference, higher doses only marginally increase the benefit and my total cholesterol levels are the best its been for years.
