Well aware that statins are continuing to be controversial and many members have at least had them suggested, even pushed to take them.
I thought this Specialist Pharmacy Service guidance just might be relevant to some here.
In summary, if you have any unexplained elevated results from a liver function test, statins are NOT recommended.
Using statins in liver impairment

We outline key clinical considerations when initiating statins in patients with liver disease or liver impairment.
Acute or active liver disease
Statins are not recommended in patients with:
unexplained active liver disease or,
unexplained elevations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) or aspartate aminotransferase (AST) that are greater than 3 x the upper limit of normal (ULN).
For acute or active liver disease, such as viral hepatitis A or B or alcoholic liver disease, statins may be considered once the patient’s liver disease is fully controlled and levels of ALT, AST, total bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase have returned to normal.
