Current Isolation
I was told my next
sputum
test
would be 4 weeks after my first day of medication... seems like a long time?

WHEN YOUR SPUTUM TEST COMES BACK ‘CLEAR’
How many times have members (particularly those with bronchiectasis)written that they feel ill, have purulent sputum and lots of it and yet have been told that their
sputum
test
has come back ‘clear’ and so have been left with no or insufficient antibiotic treatment to battle on, knowing full well that

Bronchiecstasis and asthma
In desperation I rang GP this morning to get form for a
sputum
test
at hospital. Was told I have to speak with a doctor and couldn’t have that appointment until Thursday! Have now left a message with Consultant’s secretary and am waiting.

CARDIAC COUGH
I knew it was to do with my heart but my g.p. sent me for a chest x-ray which is clear and l did a
sputum
test
which showed no infection. I have been trying to get referred to the cardiologist which my g.p. seems reluctant to do.

Recurring chest infections and phlegmy cough
So, she asked for another
sputum
test
, sent me for another chest x-ray and changed my asthma medication to Trimbow 87/5/9mg. Both the
sputum
test
and chest x-ray came back clear.

Home soon
Well I can finally go home tomorrow after what will be my 10th day although I'm sure the infection hasn't gone completely so to do another
sputum
test
in 5 days and if it's still showing a bug then we try long term antibiotics, 🙃

Congestion
I had a
sputum
test
done a month ago which was clear, allegedly. I am awaiting the results of one I put in on Monday as I am colonised with Pseudomonas. Any suggestions how to help the congestion? I take Azithromycin 3 x week, Spiriva and Relvar on a daily basis.

Sputum Test
Hi - I have had a previous pseudomonas infection which was treated with nebulised colomycin for 6 months. I had a negative sputum sample and stopped the treatment. I’ve just had the results of a sputum culture which has come back saying gram negative bacillus - culture likely to be colonisers only

so worried about results
Had a
sputum
test
which came back ok, but the doctor wants to talk to me about my chest X-ray. I have convinced myself that it is something nasty.

Update on my wife.
She finished a course of a weeks Prednisone whilst she waited the
sputum
test
results. She has been a lot better but has started with more green phlegm again just not consistent coughing. The
sputum
test
result came back Monday and the doctor called us. Apparently.

Possible bloated stomach and bronchiectasis
I also have to give in a
sputum
test
to check for fungi although I'm not producing much on demand. Am I right in thinking the chest physio will teach me how to do this. I think it's there because I have a crackling in my lungs sometimes.
