I'm 60 years old and have just been diagnosed with 'mild' bronchiectasis. I have been coughing for months and expectorating just a little greenish phelgm every day. The consultant is sending me to a chest physio as treatment in the first instance. Is this best course of action? He's not sure what is causing this. Thinks it might be acid reflux although I have no burning sensations at all. The condition is definitely worse from the afternoon onwards. Has anyone else got reflux as well?
I also have to give in a sputum test to check for fungi although I'm not producing much on demand. Am I right in thinking the chest physio will teach me how to do this. I think it's there because I have a crackling in my lungs sometimes.
On top of that, I've recently felt that my stomach is a little bit bloated and perhaps I can feel a pressure in there. It's not much but I feel it's there. I'm wondering if it's psychosomatic because when I'm distracted, it doesn't worry me. I am not ignoring it and will check it out with GP asap. Again, is this something which is linked to bronchiectasis?
Sorry for all these questions. Feeling a bit depressed and scared.

Acid reflux can also cause silent reflux ie no burning. Chest Pysio I had was excellent. She also explained how to use abdominal muscles better which can be weak. My lungs have improved also. Maybe you will need to see another consultant re stomach to find cause. Maybe your Gp can advise. Good luck
Hi and welcome to this friendly, funny and informative forum. I have severe copd and bronchiectasis. I take codeine linctus to help the coughing. Like you I produce little in the way of secretions. I can't help with the bloating I'm afraid but I would get it checked out.
Chest physio will teach u how to clear mucous frm yr lungs/ airways.its a vital step in self care+ management with bronchiectasis. If it's left,it will beget infected and cause more damage to lungs.gerd( reflux/heartburn etc) often accompany bronch.id make a list of questions for physio and do make sure u get a follow up appointment x
