How much contact do you have with your cardiologist/ep?
I'm wondering what the usual level of contact is with your heart specialist? The last time I went in to see a consultant I was prescribed Sotalol and given a follow up appointment for six months time - is this usual for the UK? I only ask because I was in Sweden last weekend and actually ended up at

Was diagnosed with AF about three weeks ago. Very irregular erratic pulse and fluttering in the chest aptly described as a wet fish flopping around. Felt unwell. Was electrically cardioverted in emergency and had a drop in pulse rate and blood pressure afterward but back in sinus rythmn. Spent a couple

Tablet change to Ambulatory Care Part 3
Had my third appointment today at Ambulatory Care Unit. Went to the the first floor and into the unit ward to see it full of ladies in beds? I asked where is the Ambulatory Care unit ? To be given the name of the ward and how to get there. Well it seemed an age before I got to the named ward to look

Sotalol side effects - do they pass?
I had been on Amiodorone for my persistent AF since last October and they worked wonderfully. My consultant took me off then two weeks ago though and I started Sotalol on Tuesday. 40mg twice a day. Anyway, I'm experiencing really bad side effects - in getting headaches, chest pain, upper back ache,

My GP has gone against the specialist!
Went to my GP's at stupid o'clock this morning. Had to wait for some time to see him but he does know my heart problems well. I explained how my previous visit to another GP took me off Statins because of the pain in my thighs? I had my Diltiazem doubled to 240 and since then my breathing has been

Flecainide
Saw a cardiologist yesterday and expressed my concern about being on Sotalol so he has stopped it and put me on flecainide. Said it's better for controlling AF and maintaining SR. My PAF has increased from 21% to 35% since last visit. My heart rate is 108 this morning. My pacemaker revealed max

I was diagnosed with AF in early 2010. The previous year I had experienced ' strange' symptoms - feeling shaky and assuming it was some version of hypoglycaemia. I would eat more as this seemed to stabilise my shaky feeling. I put on weight. GP tested me for the above or diabetes but normal results.

Consultant changes his mind again!
Well had another appointment with the Lung specialist again. Started with the usual weigh-in BP and Finger O2 it lit up at 95% so she writes it down but then it started to drop down to 92%. Then says It is my first day on here! So I said "It is usual to let the O2 monitor settle down for a few seconds

Statins bad press
I notice in today's news that Statins are being severely discredited with an estimate that long term use increases the risk of diabetes type 2 by as much as 49%. On a personal level I have been trying for a long time to get the medical profession to accept that my diabetes has been caused by a combination

Sotalol
I took amiodarone for 3 1/2 years and developed severe hyperthyroid. Currently taking 40mg prednisone and just added methimazole to try and control that. I was changed to Sotalol 80mg twice a day initially and then upped after having break through to 120 twice a day. 3 days later at EKG EP said to

My Story - skip to bottom for AF question
Hi Everyone I have just found this site and gained some useful information. My first conclusion is that no two cases are the same. I complained about my heart feeling funny over 5 years ago to my Dr who sent me for an ECG - result no problems. The year before I had been put on blood pressure pills
