Are Patients from Mars & Health Care Professionals from Venus? - Part 1
It has been a little while I know. Sometimes though the patient in me rears its ugly head again and I have to get out of blogger mode and in to being a bowel transplant patient. That is kind of a long winded apology but The Churchill Hospital, Oxford has seem a little too much of me of late. Now

Has anybody had lung lesions with their PBC? Apparently there is a link.
I had a lung biopsy and was negative for any form of cancer or sarcoidosis. They are called granulomas.

Intro: Targeted drugs for Lymphoma ... what's a pathway?
Karl from USA based Patients Against Lymphoma, has just posted a brief but informative article, written in layman's terms, describing how targeted drugs (e.g. antibodies and pathway inhibitors) work at: http://www.lymphomation.org/agents.htm This is well worth a read if you appreciate being informed

Introduction to targeted drugs
CLL/SLL is classified as a type of NHL by the World Health Organisation. This is an interesting article written by Karl Schwartz of Lymphomation.org it may aid your understanding of targeted drugs. This is an easy understand overview of the topic. remember some of the drug listed are not for CLL

Small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL)
Yesterday I spent a little while looking at the peculiarities and similarities of CLL and SLL and found a great article by the late Professor Hamblin, further reviewed by CLL Topics in patient friendly language SLL Versus CLL: How Different Are They?. http://updates.clltopics.org/1993-sll-versus-cll-how-different-are-they

Is Dapsone treatment usually diagnostic for Herptiformis Dermatitis (HD)?
Also, is it normal to get some minor itching even while on Dapsone? Although i have not had any full out flare-ups, I have occasionally experienced itchiness and still some sensitivity to seams and fabrics. Any assistance is much appreciated although I know this site may not have as many sufferers of

Awareness Cards for GPs
Last year the Australian Leukaemia Foundation produced some A4 information cards for presentation to GPs to raise the awareness of blood cancers. Given recent discussions on this group regarding raising awareness of CLL, I'm sure that the two referenced below will be of interest: 1) Is Lymphoma on

I have been on Dapsone for three weeks now, and felt enormous relief Immediately: no pain. Only problem is a slightly itchy scalp.
Will Dapsone eventually repair my scalp? Anyone else had this problem?

Chemotherapy or not?
I was diagnosed with CLL in 1997 though probably had it for some years before that. I had chemo in 2004 and again in 2008. Then I had a right pneumonectomy in 2010 for cancer. Now my haematologist is talking about more chemo since my platelet count is around 34,000 and the infiltration of the bone
