Severe asthma attack ...still poorly
I got out of hospital yesterday after a
severe
asthma
attack. I didn't respond to nebulisers as much as they hoped so I had IV magnesium then had more or less continuous nebs and oxygen for 24 hours.

Yoga and Severe Asthma
Following on from my post, I have started doing Yoga with a wonderful instructor - Jill Khan. She teaches two types of Yoga - Hatha, which is the more traditional and Yin, which comprises of mostly seated and lying postures. There is only one standing pose in this type. I started with Yin and now I am

Eosiniphilic asthma - do you work full time?
Just wondering how many of you have eosiniphilic asthma and are in full time employment? Does your employer make any allowances?

What I wish I had known (and what I have learnt through trial and error!)
You don’t have to let
asthma
control your life - you may have
severe
asthma
and feel like your life is on hold, or you may be going through a period with really poor control, but remember there is almost always a treatment that will help (biologicals/brinchothermoplasty etc).

A sudden coughing fit that leads to temporary suffocation.
A coughing fit strikes out of the blue and empties your lungs completely. You are walking along the street and, having coughed uncontrollably for a few minutes, you find that you cannot inhale again. - The lining of your airway has stuck to itself with no air in there. You feel instantly very alarmed

Asthma - top tips and advice!
Hi guys - another list for you all 😂! As always feel free to discuss and add your own top tips and advice below! So here it goes; 1. Keep your GP informed and involved to your condition if it’s flaring (as much as you can in the current climate of appt shortages!) - if you’re suddenly getting symptoms

steroids and digestive issues???
I was recently prescribed high dose antibiotics and steroids for 5 weeks following the appearance of a very unwelcome lung lesion on my ct scan back in June. Whatever it was has shrunk in my latest ct scan and is now barely visible so it did the trick. However since finishing the steroids I have had

Antibiotics curing asthma
I read a blog and part of a book about how a doctor helps patients with
severe
asthma
completely cure it with antibiotics. This type of asthma is due to a virus called Chlamydia pneumoniae. I think you can test for it and was just curious if anyone’s had it or heard about it.

What I wish I had asked my GP/asthma nurse (when first diagnosed 😉)
What type of
asthma
do I have? - day to day it won’t change much, but knowing what type you have may help you identify and remove triggers or at least how to manage them!

Too much information?
The internet is a mine of information, and I try to stick to reputable sites when researching a medical condition, but I still am finding that perhaps I now have too much information! As an example: I have discovered that the medications (inhalers) I have been prescribed can actually cause the very symptoms

Severe/chronically poorly controlled asthma: what do people do with 'small' flares?
I know the usual advice for attacks/poor control etc, but what do people on here who have chronic poor control do for flares that are more than their baseline level, but not enough for hospital etc? (NB the following is very particular to me and is not something I am advising for anyone else, especially

Asthma uncontrolled
Recently the use of asthma releaving inhalers has changed but my asthma hasn’t. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to obtain a repeat prescription before 30 days of the last and the stress only makes things worse. I am waiting for breathing tests, due in Dec, but until then I have to use online services

Repeat prescriptions
For over 30 years I’ve controlled my asthma using ventolin inhalers with the instructed dosage of 2x puffs 4 times daily or when required. Recently my request for a repeat prescription has been made difficult as the asthma Nurse at my doctors surgery informs me using my inhaler more than 2 times a week

Early repeat prescriptions
For the past 30 plus years I have controlled my asthma with the use of ventolin inhalers, 2 puffs 4 times a day or when required. But now I’m being told by the asthma Nurse at my surgery that using my inhaler more than twice a week is excessive and my asthma is out of control. In response I am waiting
