Not allowed to wear coats at playtime??!
Hi everyone My 8 year old daughter is the asthmatic in our family and she has just started school. Previously we home schooled her. One of the many bizarre rules at her school is that the children are not allowed to wear their coats/jackets outside at playtime. I've been trying to ring the school

I am feeling very anxious right now. My 4 year old daughter had a bronchial lavage and a bronchoscopy this past week. This is her second one. According to our consultant's at Addenbrookes and Prof Bush from the RBH, she is on the maximum doses of all of her medications and she is nowhere near under control

seretide for the under 2's
My little girl (aged 14 months) has been diagnosed as having chronic asthma. At present she is on Ventolin, Clenil and Montelukast. Her condition is not controlled and she has pred every month due to asthma attacks. Her consultant called today to check how she is doing and is keen to stop the Montelukast

Steroid Cards
A colleague recently attended a respiratory training session and was told that anyone using Seretide 250 Evohaler (or 500 Accuhaler) should carry a steroid card. I have never issued any of my asthma patients with a card and wonder if someone can clarify in what situation you should? I'm confused about

Advice Please
Ok so I know I've mentioned this a few times on here, but I'm getting confused and frustrated!! I was diagnosed with asthma recently, a big trigger for me is exercise. I get tight chest, a stitch feeling in the bottom of my lungs made worse on breathing in, breathe in but don't feel as though there's

Oral thrush
I know lots of people have posted about this in the past but would love some opinions. I take lots of inhaled steroids, seretide accuhaler and budesonide turbohaler, so don't use a spacer. I have never had a thrush problem. I saw the consultant on Friday, who looked at my throat, said it looked abit

Asthma med and high blood pressure
Hi all, Has anyone had any raised blood pressure problems from asthma meds, I have read that LABAs (salmeterol, seretide, advair, symbicort, oxis, formeterol) can raise blood pressure. It would be good to know if anyone has a problem with this. Cheers RI

Following on from my ""Boy o Boy What a Weekend Thread..
I had a re-assessment with my asthma Nurse this morning. We discussed a number of issues and as a result, I have now been prescribed a Seretide 250 accuhaler. I am to use this for a month and report back. The main aim is to get my peakflow back up to the 500 mark, atm, it's around 300 - 350. This

Peak Flow Diary
Asthma Review yesterday. Peak flow surprised asthma nurse - not as good as had hoped after 6 months of Clenyl Modulite. Put me on Seretide. One puff, twice a day. Salbutamol up to 4 times a day. Peak flow thingy too for readings. What is a good reading cos yesterday had 190. Last night - 290. This

embarassing topic
Taking seretide 250 - 2 puffs twice a day. Apart from the husky voice, the other side effect I've noticed is the need to dash to the loo. On one or two occasions I've failed to get there in time. Thing is, had finally come to a decision on our holidays - island hopping and wild camping. How is this

Seretide
Put on seretide for two week trial as peak flow readings low on Clenil modulite. The peak flow graph is going up and down like a yo-yo in just 10 days. Can go from 300 down to 150 in one day. Only constant was one and a half days at 240. I've only actually needed Ventolin for breathlessness on one

Coming off prednisolone??? (long)
My asthma has been a lot worse lately. It hasn't been bad enough to go to hospital (last time was June & July last yr d/t a cold and then the flu). So 3 weeks ago I had to put myself on prednisolone - trigger was/is heartburn - at least I presume so, my asthma gets worse when my heartburn increases.
